Boston's IRNE Awards Honors York, Paulus, Leon et al.

On Monday, April 19, the Boston Center for the Arts Cyclorama hosted the 2009-2010 IRNE Awards ceremony, honoring the best in Boston theater. A party for all of the nominees was held from 7-8 p.m. followed by the awards ceremony. Many Broadway names were honored, including actress Rachel York and directors Diane Paulus and Kenny Leon.

Classic Stage Company (CSC), under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Jessica R. Jenen, will present two-time Academy Award-winner Dianne Wiest in THE FOREST, by Alexander Ostrovosky, translated by Kathleen Tolan, and directed by Brian Kulick, beginning performances Friday, April 23 at CSC (136 East 13th Street) with an official press opening Thursday, May 6 at 7pm.

Following its critically acclaimed developmental production as part of the 2009 NY International Fringe Festival, the revised version of How Now, Dow Jones (www.HowNowDowJones.com) is now available for licensing through Samuel French, Inc. When Jean answers the cell phone of the corpse at the next table, she unwittingly embarks on a quirky odyssey that takes her from grief to the black market to the afterlife. With unfailing empathy, she sets the dead man's bizarre life to rights and on the way resurrects her own. ArtsWest favorite Carol Roscoe returns to direct this Seattle Premiere.
