NAATCO Presents Jordan Harrison's FUTURA, Previews 10/23

The OBIE Award-winning National Asian American Theatre Company (NAATCO) - now in its 21st season - presents the Off-Broadway, World-Premiere of Jordan Harrison's play FUTURA, with previews beginning October 23, prior to an official opening of October 26 at the TBG Theater (312 West 36th Street - between 8th and 9th Avenues) in Manhattan.

Tracy Letts' masterpiece, August: Osage County, has won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, multiple Tony awards and accolades around the world, including Time magazine's declaration that it's The Play of the Decade. Now, in its regional premiere, August has accomplished something that never happened before - a collaboration between Dayton's own professional theatre company, The Human Race, and Wright State Theatre on a production at Wright State's Festival Theatre.

The cast of the historic Human Race Theatre Company/Wright State University Theatre Department collaborative production of Tracy Letts' Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, August: Osage County, is now set. The 13-member ensemble of seven professionals and six WSU students includes two performers who were understudies during the play's five-Tony-winning run on Broadway.

Nine theater artists will be honored by the Henry Hewes Design Awards Committee during the presentation of its 46th Annual Awards in a luncheon ceremony this fall. Eighty-one theater artists were nominated for outstanding artistry in 46 productions presented during the 2009-2010 New York theater season. Off-Broadway's eleven-time Obie Award-winning Soho Rep (46 Walker Street) will present a diverse array of contemporary theater artists, beginning with Young Jean Lee's LEAR (January 7 - January 31, 2010); followed by Gregory Moss' ORANGE, HAT & GRACE (March 11 - April 4, 2010) directed by Soho Rep Artistic Director Sarah Benson; and concluding with Cynthia Hopkins' THE TRUTH: A TRAGEDY (May 6 - May 30); and will implement a new humanities programming initiative - FEED - for all main stage productions during the company's 2009-10 season, it has been announced by Soho Rep Artistic Director Sarah Benson.

Last night, the theater community came out in force to support the New York nightclub debut of CAROLINE O'CONNOR, who has been knocking 'em dead in musicals in the West End and Australia. The sold-out house cheered when Caroline announced that, by popular demand, she would be adding another show next Monday, January 25 at 7pm.
