Whether the dream is to star on Broadway or just land a solid role in their high school musical, this summer talented teens will have the opportunity to hone their singing, dancing and acting skills in a new musical theater summer intensive directed by Tony Nominated actress, Catherine Cox.
BROADWAY TRIPLE THREAT 2010 is designed for ages 13-15 and ages 16 & up and will take place at Manhattan Movement & Arts Center, a state-of-the-art studio and theater complex on Manhattan's Upper West Side during the week of July 12th -16th. Ms. Cox, who received a Tony Nomination for her performance in Oh Coward, has starred on Broadway in Baby, Barnum, Rumors and Oklahoma. She currently teaches at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City, Queens College and is a much sought after private coach. David Evans, currently the Associate Conductor of Broadways Wicked, is the musical supervisor for this years program. This program is designed to be more interdisciplinary than most musical theater intensives. says Ms. Cox. Broadway Triple Threat is process rather than performance oriented but we never forget to tell the story.Ms. Cox has assembled an all star line-up of Broadway actors, singers, choreographers and other industry professionals who will provide insight, experience as well as practical instruction in the "triple threat" disciplines of singing, dancing and acting. What better place to gain an insiders perspective on a career in musical theater than New York City? Last summer, students met and sang for Broadways finest, including Alex Lacamoire (Tony Award winning Musical Director of In the Heights), Stephanie J. Block (star of Wicked and 9 to 5) and Paul Hardt (Casting Director of West Side Story). Tom Kitt, Tony Award winning composer of NEXT TO NORMAL and musical supervisor, arranger & orchestrator of AMERICAN IDIOT, is heading the list of guest artists for the 2010 intensive. More guests will be announced as the program approaches.
Broadway Triple Threat 2010 will take place at Manhattan Movement & Arts Center which places students within easy reach of both the Broadway theater district and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
