Dixon Place (Ellie Covan, Founding & Artistic Director) presents the co-production of world-famous beatboxer and Drama Desk Award recipient Chesney Snow & critically praised director Rebecca Arends's THE UNWRITTEN LAW opening Friday, September 7th. Snow comes direct from his run in Broadway's In Transit, where Ben Brantley of the NY Times called him 'a one-man sound effects wiz.' Directed and choreographed by Rebecca Arends, with original live music, Snow delivers a brilliant blend of spoken word, dance, and visuals. Jamie Brickhouse's award-winning, critically-acclaimed solo show Dangerous When Wet: Booze, Sex, and My Mother directed by Obie Award-winning David Drake (The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me) is his alcoholic odyssey from small-town sissy to louche Manhattanite that's wickedly intoxicating as he hits bottom and discovers he can't escape the all-consuming love of his mother Mama Jean. A Texan Elizabeth Taylor with the split personality of Auntie Mame and Mama Rose, she never has a thought she doesn't speak and unwittingly helps Jamie become an out, proud gay, HIV-positive man in recovery. Darkly comic, you'll cry laughing.

Provincetown Theater Honors Terrence McNally with its First Provincetown American Playwright Award

On Friday, July 20th the board of the Provincetown Theater Foundation and their new artistic director, Obie Award winner David Drake, will present the first annual Provincetown American Playwright Award to Terrence McNally, the four-time Tony Award-winning playwright of such iconic plays and musicals as Master Class, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, The Full Monty, Ragtime, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and this summer's Cape Cod premiere of his masterpiece Love! Valour! Compassion! at the Provincetown Theater.

The Kimmel Center & Joe's Pub Join Forces

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and Joe's Pub at The Public join forces once again for the Kimmel Center Theater Residency. Under the tutelage of Jay Wahl, Producing Artistic Director of the Kimmel Center, and Shanta Thake, Director of Joe's Pub, the program serves as an incubator for artists and their collaborators to create and develop music and theater projects. The program will be held in the Kimmel Center's SEI Innovation Studio (300 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA) from June 18-30 with Public Readings, free and open to the public, on June 29 and 30. Readings will be followed by Q&A sessions with the artists.
