On The Rocks' Theatre Company's Festive Holiday Bar Pageant, Edelweiss, Returns To Dixon Place

Back by popular demand, On The Rocks Theatre Company remounts their festive holiday bar pageant, Edelweiss, in the Dixon Place Lounge. The production is written by On The Rocks co-founders Christopher Ford & Dakota Rose with original music by their frequent collaborator Andrew R. Butler. Ms. Rose helms the production as director. Edelweiss will play four performances only - December 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd at 7:30p, in the Dixon Place Lounge. Admission is FREE. Tickets can be reserved by visiting http://dixonplace.org/performances/edelweiss/.

Edelweiss takes place on Christmas Eve when news of Santa Claus' sudden death throws the North Pole into chaos. Elves and reindeer riot in the streets, the Gingerbread House of Commons crumbles, and Mrs. Claus boards a southbound Polar Express leaving the denizens of the North Pole shell shocked. Amidst the turmoil the only institution with the fortitude to hold a makeshift memorial for their beloved Santa is the North Pole Botany Society. And the only building in the North Pole with electricity and a fully stocked bar is Dixon's Place. Join the members of the North Pole Botany Society as they come together to sing, dance, eulogize, and perhaps find the true meaning of Christmas.

On The Rocks Theatre was founded in the beautiful San Fernando Valley by long time collaborators, Christopher Ford and Dakota Rose. Previous work at Dixon Place includes FRED, The White Stag Quadrilogy and Wolfert and last year's premiere of Edelweiss. Original music in this one act comedy is written by Andrew R. Butler, a writer, composer and performer based in Brooklyn NY. Butler recently premiered his original sci-fi folk concert, Rags Parkland Sings the Songs of the Future at Ars Nova and is a recipient of the 2018 Jonathan Larson Grant for emerging musical theatre creators.

Edelweiss features Andrew R. Butler*, Nikki Calonge, Shannon Holt*, Rebeca Miller*, Derek Smith and Ellen Winter. Choreography is by Chloe Kernaghan. The production is designed by Christopher Ford & Dakota Rose and stage managed by Chiara Johnson.

The Dixon Place Lounge is open before, during and after the show. Proceeds from the bar directly support Dixon Place's artists and mission.

Dixon Place is located at 161A Chrystie Street (between Rivington and Delancey), in Manhattan's Lower East Side (By subway: B/D to Grand, F to 2nd Ave, J/Z to Bowery, 6 to Spring St, M to Essex St).
