The Sydney's Theatre community gathered at the 2014 SYDNEY THEATRE AWARDS tonight for the 10th annual celebration of the best of the past year's work as judged by The Sydney Reviewers.

David Campbell, one of Australia's foremost entertainers, welcomed his second and third child when his wife Lisa gave birth to twins. William David Campbell and Elizabeth Ann Campbell were born in Australia on Sunday, January 11.

Nominations were announced today for the Sydney Theatre Awards for 2014, which will be presented at a gala ceremony on Monday January 19, 2015 at 6pm at the Paddington RSL.

Hayes Theatre Co has announced the relaunch of New Musicals Australia (NMA), an initiative dedicated to the development and production of original music theatre.

Today we are talking to one of the most successful and accomplished composers and lyricists in Broadway and Hollywood history all about his participation in next week's hotly anticipated charity event UPRISING OF LOVE, co-produced with Bruce Cohen, hosted by Jane Lynch and starring Sting and Patti LuPone, among others - the one and only Stephen Schwartz. Schwartz sheds lights on what inspired him to curate the evening, as well as previews some of the entertainment set to be on hand and what audiences can expect from the Dustin Lance Black-penned benefit to raise awareness of gay bullying and support equal rights for all. Additionally, Schwartz looks back at his many major musical landmarks and touches upon the current revival of PIPPIN as well as long-running Broadway hit WICKED and the currently in development film adaptation of it. Plus, Schwartz comments on the upcoming screen-to-stage adaptation of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, currently set to premiere in La Jolla later this year. Furthermore, Schwartz shares news on the development of several current projects he is working on at the moment, including the new stage musical based on the life of Emanuel Schikaneder and the animated big screen A.R. Whilst many may have come to see DAVID CAMPBELL SINGS JOHN BUCCHINO based on David Campbell's local profile, the audience was treated to a wonderful insight into the man behind the music, the award winning, John Bucchino. The show was very much Bucchino's story and Campbell was the voice for the music. It was a delight to see these long-time friends partner for this show and their album, also called, DAVID CAMPBELL SINGS JOHN BUCCHINO.

In 2010 David Campbell released a CD entitled On Broadway, a compilation of show tunes which he performed with a dynamic showmanship that is an inherent part of his enormous talent. He toured extensively in Australia and also the US in LA, San Francisco and New York, and during his short stay in LA I had the chance to review his show at the Catalina Jazz Club. I found him to be a delightfully drole entertainer with a terrific theatre voice and winning personality. His delivery onstage was well preserved on CD and DVD, making him a joy to listen to and watch.

Former Cabaret Festival Artistic Director, David Campbell, and Broadway Composer, John Bucchino, presented a marvellous performance.

The best cabaret hurts your heart a little, it tells you something about life, and love. This, then, is cabaret at its finest. Bucchino's songs are beautifully detailed accounts of his life - of love affairs, and mistakes, and risks taken - essentially, all the things worth singing about.

In a deeply personal and intimate show, Campbell and Bucchino will share the Concert Hall Stage at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) for one night only on Friday 6 June, 2014. Campbell and Bucchino talk about their lives, careers and the songs that have bound them together.
