Applications Now Open For 2019 Residencies At SPACE On Ryder Farm

SPACE on Ryder Farm--a nonprofit residency program for artists and activists located on a 223 year-old working organic farm in Brewster, NY--announced that applications for all of its 2019 residency programs are now open for submission. Due to increasing demand, SPACE announced in July that it was changing its submission process to allow the organization sufficient time for review.

REBEL VERSES Begins Thursday at Vineyard Theatre

Vineyard Theatre and Developing Artists will partner again to present Developing Artists' REBEL VERSES Youth Arts Festival, Thursday through Saturday August 9-18 at Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15th St.). Since the festival's inception in 2001, REBEL VERSES has provided young artists, ages 13-19, with the opportunity to collaborate and network with their peers and prominent artists, and to showcase their original work. This two-week event, now in its second season Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre, will feature over one hundred artists and performers from ten young-artist companies hailing from all five boroughs of New York City and beyond.

Daphne Rubin-Vega, Brandon Victor Dixon and More Sign on for REBEL VERSES

Vineyard Theatre and Developing Artists will partner again to present Developing Artists' REBEL VERSES Youth Arts Festival, Thursday through Saturday August 9-18 at Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15th St.). Each night will include a prominent Guest Artist joining the festival for a special performance.

World Premiere Of NEPTUNE By Timothy DuWhite Opens Today.

Dixon Place (Ellie Covan, Founder/Artistic Director) presents the world premiere of Timothy DuWhite's Neptune, opening Today, July 13th at 7:30 PM and running for three weeks (July 13, 14, 21, & 28 at 7:30 pm, and July 20 & 27 at 10:00 pm), at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street). Advance tickets are $18 general admission, $15 for seniors and students; at the door $21 and $18, respectively. $15 early bird tickets are available until June 20th. Tickets can be purchased at www.dixonplace.org or by calling 866-811-4111. The Dixon Place Lounge is open before and after the show, with proceeds directly supporting the organization's artists and mission.

BWW Review: Carey Mulligan Considers Violence and Gender in Dennis Kelly's GIRLS & BOYS

Perhaps some of the good people at Britain's Royal Court are in need of a hug these days.  This week New York playgoers welcomed two transfers of exceedingly violent productions from that celebrated London theatre.  But while, over at The Public, the bloody finish of David Ireland's CYPRUS AVENUE is played out in front of audiences, at the Minetta Lane, viewers of Dennis Kelly's solo piece GIRLS & BOYS only hear about its repulsive event.

KCRep Announces Search for Next Visionary Artistic Director

The Board of Directors of Kansas City Repertory Theatre today announced that Dr. Eric Rosen, KCRep's Artistic Director, will be departing the organization to return to New York, where he will pursue other projects. The Board has named Associate Artistic Director Jason Chanos to Interim Artistic Director and is conducting a national search for a visionary artistic director. Chanos will partner with current Executive Director Angela Lee Gieras to lead the organization in the interim.

Stew & Heidi Perform One Night Only Concert June 18 To Launch New CDs

STEW & THE NEGRO PROBLEM - the powerhouse indie rock band fronted by longtime collaborators Stew and Heidi Rodewald - will perform a one-night-only concert at THE TOTAL BENT/NATIVE SONG DOUBLE RECORD RELEASE PARTY, featuring selections from the duo's two most recent recordings, on Monday, June 18 at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker St.) in Manhattan.  Doors open at 7 pm for the concert beginning at 8 pm.

Vineyard Theatre announces the second extension of the world-premiere production of THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE.  This original dance play by legendary composer and four-time Tony Award winner John Kander, Tony-nominated playwright David Thompson, and five-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman will extend until through Sunday, June 24.

Just last night, the Dramatists Guild Foundation (DGF) gathered the best of Broadway at the Hudson Theatre to toast the life and work of one of American theatre's greatest living composers, Stephen Schwartz, on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 7pm EST. The star-filled concert, sponsored in part by the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) and the Hudson Theatre, showcased and shined a spotlight on Schwartz's beloved songs, stories, and legacy in celebration of his 70th Birthday.
