Long Beach Opera (LBO) takes on the private world of the most public life ever lived. The U.S premiere of Gavin Bryars' Marilyn Forever will be performed tonight, March 21 and March 29, 2015 at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater and Women's Project Theater present the world premiere of The Undeniable Sound of Right Now, written by Laura Eason (S e x with Strangers,'House of Cards') and directed by Kirsten Kelly (Slipping), beginning tonight, March 19 at 7pm at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place, west of Seventh Avenue South. Opening night is set for Thursday, April 2 at 7pm. The production is set to run through Saturday, May 2.

She is joined by pianist Yefim Bronfman and cellist Lynn Harrell for a chamber program featuring Beethoven's Piano Trio in B-flat Major, Op. 97, 'Archduke' and Tchaikovsky's Piano Trio in A Minor, Op. 50 on Tuesday, April 14 at 8:00 p.m.

BRIC has announced that legendary soul singer Chaka Khan will open the 37th annual Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival, with a free concert June 3 at the Prospect Park Bandshell. Dubbed the "Queen of Funk," Chaka has stunned artists, audiences and critics alike over her 40-year career. She brings her unbridled talent to the Bandshell, continuing BRIC's longstanding tradition of presenting an eclectic mix of artists at the forefront of their field, all within the singular environs of Prospect Park. Previous Festival openers have included cultural luminary David Byrne, reggae icon Jimmy Cliff and pop sensation Janelle Monae, among many others.

Celebrated mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato concludes her season-long Carnegie Hall Perspectives series on Wednesday, March 18 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, joining The Philadelphia Orchestra and conductor Maurizio Benini for a program of bel canto arias, ensembles, and orchestral selections with special guests and close colleagues soprano Nicole Cabell and tenor Lawrence Brownlee. Music from Donizetti's Maria di Rohan and L'elisir d'amore, Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi, and Rossini's Zelmira will be performed, along with other pieces.

According to the New York Times, dance legend Twyla Tharp, whose choreography has been seen on Broadway in such shows as Movin' Out and Come Fly Away, is going on the road. The choreographer will celebrate her 50th year in the business with a national tour that will eventually make its way to Lincoln Center on November 22, 2015. The 15-stop tour will feature twelve dancers and new works to the music of Bach, Henry Butler, Steve Bernstein and John Zorn.
An official schedule has not yet been announced.
