2013 Toronto Theatre Critics' Awards Announced - TERMINUS and More!

TERMINUS wins big at this year's Toronto Theatre Critics' Awards, which were announced today (awards to be given out at a later date). The awards are determined by Toronto critics who represent five of the city's newspapers: The Globe and Mail (J. Kelly Nestruck); The Grid (Martin Morrow); NOW (Glenn Sumi); The National Post (Robert Cushman); and the Toronto Star (Richard Ouzounian).

Ghost Stories is already a smash-hit in the UK, and just had its North American Premiere in Toronto at The Panasonic Theatre. A unique night out, the show promises to scare, thrill and make you laugh. Most importantly, the show is kept a secret, so you don't know exactly what to expect until you are sitting in the darkened theatre. Darrin Baker is one of the stars of the show, and he spoke to BWW about what scares him, and about the special nature of this secretive production.
34th Annual Carbonell Award Nominations Announced

Les Miserables at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables led the pack with a dozen nominations. Broadsword at Miami's Mad Cat Theatre Company and Why Torture is Wrong and the People Who Love Them at Plantation's Mosaic Theatre tied with five nods each as the most recognized plays for the annual honors to be held on Monday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.

Just a Rumor, by Gary Lyons and Doug DeVita, will get a rehearsed reading. The new play explores the nature of love, celebrity, gossip, truth, and how to get a dead movie star out of the kitchen. The cast includes Patricia Hodge, Stephanie Cole, Chris Biggins, Jenny Logan and Richard Cunningham. It is directed by Lyons. Stage directions will be read by Liza Keast.
