Samuel Beckett’s acclaimed masterpiece Endgame (Fim de Partida) opens April 30 at Teatro Paulo Autran, inside Sesc Pinheiros, in a new production directed by Rodrigo Portella. Starring Marco Nanini, Guilherme Weber, Helena Ignez, and Ary França, the tragicomic classic revisits Beckett’s haunting post-apocalyptic world, where Hamm, a blind and paralyzed old man, and his servant Clov remain trapped in a tense relationship of dependence, cruelty, and endless waiting. Written in the aftermath of World War II, the play remains one of the most powerful works of the Theater of the Absurd, exploring power, isolation, and the search for meaning in a collapsing world.
Sao Paulo's artistic scene gets a new stage this week. Unimed Theater comes with the promise of becoming a space of excellence for culture in the city. Located in one of the most central points of Sao Paulo, on the corner of Rua Augusta and Alameda Santos, just one block from Paulista Avenue, the architectural project bears the signature of architect Isay Weinfeld. Producers Monique Gardenberg and Jeffrey Neale are responsible for curating the show, which opens August 22 with David Bowie's Lazarus, directed by Felipe Hirsch.
Cantando na Chuva (Singin' in the Rain) leads the list with 11 nominations, followed by Romeu + Julieta, Natasha, Pierre e o Grande Cometa de 1812 and Peter Pan with nine.
