On Sunday, January 29, 2017, the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust joins with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene to honor the memory of Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, who died on July 2, 2016, by presenting a community reading of his landmark memoir NIGHT, which tells of his experience in German concentration camps with his father during the Holocaust.

Now in its fourth year Illuminate SF Festival of Light shines a light on 35 dramatic, eco-friendly light art installations - nine more than last year and more than four times the number of the inaugural celebration in 2013 - accessible by public transport and free for all. From Thanksgiving 2016 through New Year's Day 2017, art lovers are invited to embrace the power of light and tour San Francisco's art installations by a diverse range of local and world renowned light artists. Illuminate SF Festival of Light, presented by the San Francisco Travel Association, has grown to include intimate artist talks, museum tours and a myriad of other light art activations across the city.

Sculptor and Painter Menashe Kadishman Passes Away

The many works produced by the Israeli sculptor and painter Menashe Kadishman, who has died aged 82, often surprised and provoked, blurring the boundaries between art and non-art. At the 1978 Venice Biennale, he displayed a live flock of sheep stained blue (a 'moving painting', he called it). He took care of the sheep through drawing on his experience as a shepherd on a kibbutz in his youth.
