Savannah Music Festival Extends Violinist Daniel Hope's Contract

After nine years of serving as Associate Artistic Director at the Savannah Music Festival (SMF), violinist Daniel Hope's contract has been extended for three more years beginning in FY 2013. Mr. Hope's contributions to chamber music programming at SMF have helped bring the organization international notoriety as one of America's most distinctive cross-genre festivals.

This November, in Juilliard School's Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Anne Manson will conduct the U.S. premiere of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies' Kommilitonen! (Young Blood!) - an opera co-commissioned by Juilliard and the Royal Academy of Music - which received its world premiere in London this past March to remarkable critical acclaim. The production opens Juilliard's 2011-12 Vocal Arts season on Wednesday, November 16 at 8 PM, with additional performances on Friday, November 18 at 8 PM and Sunday, November 20 at 2 PM. David Pountney, librettist of the opera, provides stage direction, sets and costumes are by Robert Innes Hopkins, and choreography is by Carolum Choa.

Joseph Calleja Celebrates U.S. Album Release at (Le) Poisson Rouge, 10/24

This Monday sees the U.S. release of The Maltese Tenor, Joseph Calleja's third solo album for Decca Classics. To celebrate the event, Calleja will perform selections from the recording live on Monday evening at New York City's (Le) Poisson Rouge.
