Le Poisson Rouge celebrates its fifth anniversary tonight, June 7-16 with LPR X 5, a series of specially curated concerts that exemplify the venue's commitment to diverse musical programming. LPR has grown and evolved over the last five years, while staying true to the philosophy that inspired co-founders Justin Kantor and David Handler to open the venue. LPR is dedicated 'to the fusion of popular and art cultures in music, dance, literature, and visual art. The venue's mission is to revive the symbiotic relationship between art and revelry, to establish a creative asylum for both artists and audiences.'

Met Museum Announces The Sau-Wing Lam Collection of Rare Italian Stringed Instruments

A spectacular musical instrument collection assembled by Sau-Wing Lam (1923-1988) will go on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art beginning December 18. This is the first time that works from the renowned Lam Collection will be on public display in the United States. The instruments on view-nine violins and one viola-will include such masterpieces as the Baltic violin by Giuseppe Guarneri "del Gesu" (1698-1744), and the Scotland University and Bavarian violins by Antonio Stradivari (1644-1737). The opening date of The Sau-Wing Lam Collection of Rare Italian Stringed Instruments coincides with the 275th anniversary of the death of Antonio Stradivari.

MET MUSEUM PRESENTS Announces Remaining 2012 Events

On Friday, November 30, The Metropolitan Museum of Art will offer a live webcast of the first of five performances of an updated version of the 16th-century Chinese Kunqu opera masterpiece Peony Pavilion that will take place in the Met's Astor Court, the courtyard modeled on a 17th-century Chinese garden. This 70-minute version of the opera has been developed and directed by celebrated composer Tan Dun, with a new score by Mr. Tan and choreography by Huang Doudou, one of China's most prominent dancers. It will be performed by Zhang Jun, one of China's most respected Kunqu performers, and the Shanghai Zhang Jun Art Center Company.
