The Unknown Artists will present the Los Angeles professional premiere of 35 MM, a musical exhibition, by composer and lyricist Ryan Scott Oliver, at the Complex in Hollywood this coming February, 2016.
Led by the impressive talents of David Mitrano as Jean Valjean and Garrett Chandler as his arch enemy Javert, the cast of nearly 30 performers harmonize beautifully in each and every number, never missing a beat. This is quite a remarkable feat, given the change to recorded tracks two days prior to opening the show. Director Summer Dey Cacciagioni and Music Director Mike Walker are to be commended for sticking to the adage that "the show must go on" and not letting any obstacle stand in their way in presenting this rousing production.
Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, will continue their 2014-2015 season with the 1955 cult classic THE GOLDEN APPLE. The one-night-only concert will take place at the Moss Theatre at New Roads School in Santa Monica on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 7:00 pm.

What would you pay for a miracle? The people of the small town of Painted Post, Massachusetts have got plenty of reasons to believe. It is 1945, and not only has the town lost many of its young men in the war, but now a vision of the Virgin Mary has appeared in the window above the sickbed of a comatose young girl. So what if the girl's mother charges admission to pray at her bedside and witness the vision? And when the girl suddenly awakens after five years, she is pregnant. Could it be yet another miracle -- or just one of her mother's hoaxes?

You wouldn't know there was a recession if you dropped in on the Academy for New Musical Theatre in North Hollywood these days. They have over 50 new musicals in development this season, and this summer they're producing some of them, workshopping some others, giving concert readings of still more, plus putting on not one, but two conferences on the business of musical theatre (one for actors, one for writers), as well as offering several dozen courses in the craft of writing or acting or producing musical theatre.
On Sunday March 14 Tamra Lamese Dozier, Dana Shaw, Sheila Ferrari and Melissa Smilow presented their show Sex, Love & Whine @ Sterling's Upstairs @ Vitello's to a packed house, but half hour to curtain... all was not in their favor. During dinner, the lights went off on the entire block of Tujunga Ave, forcing guests at Vitello's to eat and chat by candlelight and putting the impending 7:00pm show at risk. What to do when mics are electric too? Not to be seen or heard; whether 'tis nobler to perform... that is the question! At 6:50 Michael Sterling took the stage and addressed the anxious crowd explaining the situation that there was no backup generator in the building and that the DWP had given no word as to when power would be returned...but, that the four ladies wanted the show to go forward and would present their show, accompanied by their combo orchestra onstage... all with the limited lighting of candles...and at half price for patrons, Sterling encouraged them to return to see an uninterrupted show, that would be rescheduled at a later date. The audience cheeredand ON WITH THE SHOW!
