The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 18 categories and one special award for the 2014 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00pm EST, and hosted by acclaimed husband and wife actors and comedians, Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman. This year's event will once again benefit The Actors Fund.

Broadway In Chicago has announced that individual tickets for BUYER & CELLAR, starring Michael Urie will go on-sale to the public Friday, February 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. BUYER & CELLAR will play Chicago for a limited engagement beginning May 6, 2014 at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Chestnut). Producers Darren Bagert ('Of Mice and Men,' 'The Glass Menagerie'), Dan Shaheen ('Peter and the Starcatcher,' 'The Fantasticks'), Ted Snowdon ('A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder,' 'Spring Awakening') and Daryl Roth ('Kinky Boots,' 'Love Loss and What I Wore') bring this hilarious new comedy to Chicago.

Producers Darren Bagert, Dan Shaheen and Ted Snowdon just announced that Broadway leading man Christopher J. Hanke (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying) will begin performances as Alex More in the smash hit comedy Buyer & Cellar on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street). Current star Michael Urie ("Ugly Betty") will launch the first national tour at Chicago's Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place beginning Tuesday, May 6, 2014, through Sunday, June 15, 2014, followed by an engagement at Washington D.C.'s Harman Center for the Arts from Friday, June 20, 2014 through Sunday, June 29, 2014. Buyer & Cellar, starring Michael Urie will then play Los Angeles' Mark Taper Forum for six weeks from Wednesday, July 9, 2014 through Sunday, August 17, 2014. Buyer & Cellar will play additional cities through December 2014 including a four-week engagement at Toronto's Panasonic Theatre from Wednesday, November 12, 2014 through Thursday, November 30, 2014 (Casting TBD). Buyer & Cellar, which recouped its initial investment faster than any Off-Broadway show in recent history and continues to break box office records, is written by Jonathan Tolins and directed by Stephen Brackett.

Written by Jonathan Tolins and directed by Stephen Brackett, Buyer & Cellar continues to break box office records having recouped its initial investment faster than any Off-Broadway show in recent history.

BUYER & CELLAR's Jonathan Tolins Set for Metropolitan Opera Quiz Panel on 1/11

Jonathan Tolins, the author of Buyer & Cellar, will be a panelist on the Metropolitan Opera Quiz during the first intermission of this week's broadcast of Die Fledermaus. The new production of Strauss's operetta is performed in English with new dialogue by Broadway playwright Douglas Carter Beane, and features Tony Award winner Danny Burstein in the comic role of Frosch the jailer. This will be Tolins's second appearance on the Quiz after making his debut a year ago. Buyer & Cellar continues its record-breaking run at the Barrow Street Theatre off-Broadway and is currently selling tickets through April 13. The show will be produced later this year in Chicago, Los Angeles, and other cities to be announced.

Tom Jones, lyricist, book writer and director of The Fantasticks, rang the closing bell at The New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday, August 19. He was joined by cast members Nick Spangler and Margaret Anne Florence, who play Matt and Luisa in the revival. Said producer Catherine Russell, 'As one of the great New York City theater traditions, The Fantasticks' appearance at the stock exchange is quite fitting and exciting. We are happy to ring the closing bell in the city The Fantasticks has called home for 48 years.' The Fantasticks is a captivating and simple romantic comedy about a boy and girl who fall in love at the hands of their meddling fathers.
