Heading into the annual SXSW festival, Starz Digital Media has snagged the rights to the film, To Be Takei. The documentary about pop-culture icon George Takei premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival and was directed by Jennifer M. Kroot (It Came from Kuchar). The company has acquired all rights for U.S. and Canada. The company will distribute with a theatrical release planned for 2014. The announcement was made today by Kevin Kasha, Head of Acquisitions for Starz.

San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) announced Crescendo: The Next 35, to kick-off its 36th season,Illuminate, on Sunday, October 13, 2013, from 12 - 3 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel (757 Market Street, San Francisco). After a successful 35thanniversary season, Crescendo provides a sneak peek of the chorus' next 35 years. The Sunday brunch includes a preview of selections from the upcoming season, which will be packed with enlightening world premieres and dazzling divas, in some of the city's most beloved venues. With proceeds benefiting SFGMC, Crescendo includes a silent and live auction and an awards ceremony honoring the Tyler Clementi Foundation, KQED, and the Bob Ross Foundationfor their contributions to the LGBT community. The Kennedy Center hosts its 12th annual Page-to-Stage new play festival from Saturday, August, 31 to Monday, September 2, 2013, featuring more than 40 theaters from the D.C. metropolitan area, all with a mission to produce and support new work.
