The next Musical Theatre Melodies broadcast, hosted by Rob Morrison on 96.5 Inner FM on Tuesday, October 26 will pay tribute to the Academy, Grammy and Ivor Novello Award-winning composer, lyricist, librettist and screenwriter, Leslie Bricusse (who passed away at his home in the South of France last week at the age of 90).

Recently making her solo debut in The Appel Room, Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall, singer and actress, CORINNA SOWERS ADLER returns to the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, on Sunday, May 22 at 7pm for an encore performance of her highly acclaimed show 'High Standards'. The show is musically directed by legendary musical arranger, Alex Rybeck and will feature Broadway veteran Lawrence Yurman on piano. The show is a musical journey through some of the best music ever written, reimagined by Mr. Rybeck including songs by Meredith Wilson, Leonard Bernstein/Betty Comden & Adolf Green, Leslie Bricusse/Cyril Ornadel, John Lennon and Joni Mitchell, to name a few.
The actor combines his talents as a star of both Shakespeare classics and musical theatre.

As she wends her way towards the stage at the opening of her new show at the Metropolitan Room (performances were on June 15 and 20), Corinna Sowers Adler sings the Jerome Kern/Oscar Hammerstein II classic “All The Things You Are” with warm, legato phrases that surround the club like a hug. Sowers Adler achieves this not only with her singing, but also the friendly and personal nature of her bridging dialogue. In High Standards, she manages to make us feel privy to an authentic self without a lot of in-jokes intended for attending friends and family. The standards to which this show's title refers are not only those evergreen numbers collected in The Great American Song Book, but also yardsticks by which we measure quality and value in life.
