4/15/18 ~ HONORING GEORGE CHAKIRIS, BARRIE CHASE & TONI BASIL There's a certain feeling that invades my consciousness when I attend a Dancer's Event... It is a deep, passionate, all-encompassing love amongst it's members. And that is what I was feeling, attending a most prestigious (in my opinion) Event; The Professional Dancer's Society 31st Annual Luncheon & “Gypsy” Award Ceremony, held Yearly in the International Room at the Beverly Hilton.

Known for his rich baritone voice on LA stages for the past several years, Robert Yacko made his solo concert debut entitled Opening Doors at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal Sunday October 29. In spite of the Dodger game, he attracted a good sized audience who hung on very note and lyric. Skillfully directed by Bruce Kimmel, who is no stranger to Yacko, as he has appeared in many Kritzerland shows, the concert/cabaret explored the highlights of Yacko's life and career from South Philly to New York and on to LA.

BWW Review: CANTANDO NA CHUVA (Singin' In The Rain) Gives Brazil a Shower of Joy

Cantando Na Chuva (Singin' in the Rain) is set in the roaring '20s and silent movie stars are the biggest names in the world. Don Lockwood (Jarbas Homem de Mello) has it all, a string of hit films and a studio-engineered romance with the most beautiful actress in town, Lina Lamont (Claudia Raia). But with the new phenomenon of the talking picture on the way and a chance meeting with Kathy Selden (Bruna Guerin), a talented young chorus girl set to steal his heart, things are about to change for Don and for Hollywood forever. With all the charm, romance, comedy and tinsel town glamour of one of the world's best-loved films, Cantando Na Chuva songs include Good Morning, Make 'em Laugh, Moses Supposes and the legendary Singin' in the Rain.

A New Golden Age? LA LA LAND Presents an In-Depth Look at a Decade of Movie Musicals

The 1940s-60s is widely considered to be a Golden Age of movie musicals. With dynamic stars like Gene Kelly, Judy Garland, Shirley Jones, Cyd Charisse and Fred Astaire lighting up the big screen time and time again, the years that followed the second World War undoubtedly brought us some of our most beloved classics. In 2002, a blockbuster called Chicago proved that the movie musical could be not only a commercial and critical success, but cool again. Since then, the world has seen a resurgence in a genre that was long-considered dead, bringing an American tradition back to the forefront of popular culture. This holiday season, the movie musical is back in full force with the critically-acclaimed La La Land, featuring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. With the arrival of perhaps the best movie musical in decades, we're bringing you an in-depth timeline of the past ten years in movie musicals. Are we in a second Golden Age? Decide for yourself!
