BWW Interview: Russell Grant Talks STRICTLY and THE GOLDEN AGE OF DANCE

Since winning hearts during his stint on Strictly Come Dancing, partnered by Flavia Cacace, actor and astrologer Russell Grant has starred in Hairspray, Grease and The Wizard of Oz. He's now hosting The Golden Age of Dance, a celebration of great dance numbers from classic films like Top Hat, Follow the Fleet, Swing Time and Shall We Dance, featuring a company of West End dancers and The Novello Orchestra. The show is at Theatre Royal Drury Lane on 13 November and Wales Millennium Centre on 15 November.

Rita Hayworth 100th Birthday Celebration Set for NYC, Hollywood

Rosie O'Donnell Pens Foreword for Costume Designer Bobby Pearce's THE ART OF PAPER FLOWERS

THE ART OF PAPER FLOWERS Creating Realistic Blossoms from Ordinary Papers, an artistic how-to book written and created by Bobby Pearce, Tony-nominated costume designer (TABOO) and well-known crafting enthusiast ('The Rosie O'Donnell Show'), will be released internationally in hardcover and digital formats by publisher Creative Publishing International on Monday, August 15, 2016.

Masterworks Broadway recently announced its Summer 2016 releases including three classic albums from the archives - Sid and Marty Krofft's Les Poupees de Paris - 1964 World Fair Recording (out today, July 8), I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road - Original Off-Broadway Cast Recording (August 8), and Alice Through the Looking Glass - 1966 Television Soundtrack Recording (September 9).

3-D Theatricals to Stage HELLO, DOLLY! This Summer

3-D Theatricals, Orange County's most distinguished regional musical theatre production company, presents the Tony Award-winning spectacular HELLO, DOLLY! starring Valerie Perri as Mrs. Dolly Gallagher Levi. Previewing July 15, with its official opening July 16 at Fullerton's historic Plummer Auditorium and continuing there through July 31, the Fullerton run is followed by a second opening at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center where it will preview August 5, and officially open August 6, 2016.

BWW Dance Review: BALLET HISPANICO Starts Strong but Comes up Short at The Joyce

Magical realism has struck the stage! A group of travelers has set out on a long journey, but the scenario, lighting, and music keep shifting before our eyes. It feels as if we are jumping from one daydream to another. Thus began Ballet Hispanico's 45th Anniversary on the evening of Friday April 9th, 2016 at The Joyce.

Today in 1957, Brigadoon opened at the Adelphi Theatre, where it ran for 47 performances. Brigadoon is a musical with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Songs from the musical, such as 'Almost Like Being in Love' have become standards. The story involves two American tourists who stumble upon Brigadoon, a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years. Tommy, one of the tourists, falls in love with Fiona, a young woman from Brigadoon. The original production opened on Broadway in 1947 and ran for 581 performances. A 1954 film version starred Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. A 1966 television version starred Robert Goulet and Peter Falk.

Today in 1947, Brigadoon opened at the Ziegfeld Theatre, where it ran for 581 performances. Brigadoon is a musical with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. It tells the story of a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years, though to the villagers, the passing of each century seems no longer than one night. Brigadoon then received a West End production opening in 1949 that ran for 685 performances, and many revivals followed. A 1954 film version starred Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. A 1966 television version starred Robert Goulet and Peter Falk.

Happy Birthday, Cyd Charisse! Charisse began starring in films in the 1940s. Her roles usually focused on her abilities as a dancer, and she was paired with Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly; her films include Singin' in the Rain (1952), The Band Wagon (1953), Brigadoon (1954) and Silk Stockings (1957). She stopped dancing in films in the late 1950s, but continued acting in film and television, and in 1992 made her Broadway debut.

STAGE TUBE: On This Day for 2/24/16- SILK STOCKINGS

Today in 1955, Silk Stockings opened at the Imperial Theatre, where it ran for 478 performances. Silk Stockings is a musical with a book by George S. Kaufman, Leueen MacGrath, and Abe Burrows and music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The musical is loosely based on the Melchior Lengyel story Ninotchka and the 1939 film adaptation it inspired. It ran on Broadway in 1955. This was the last musical that Porter wrote for the stage.
