The National Jazz Museum in Harlem has added a slew of new events with Jonathan Batiste. Below you will find the entire calendar of events for September with three new Jazz Is:Now! additions. The museum is also happy to announce that Greg Thomas will host next Tuesday's 'Words on Bird' event accompanied by pianst Chris Pattishall.

On Sunday, January 16, 1938 the world of Jazz and Swing changed forever. On Sunday, September 22, 2013 The Capital Jazz Orchestra and New York City clarinet virtuoso Ken Peplowski will salute the 75rd anniversary of this momentous concert…recreating that very show, to the minute! Benny Goodman's 1938 show at Carnegie Hall in New York has been billed as the world's most famous jazz concert, a ground-breaking event that brought jazz into the mainstream. The concert featured such swing icons as Lionel Hampton, Harry James, Gene Krupa, Count Basie, Lester Young and Johnny Hodges and included such timeless jazz classics as "Don't Be That Way," "Avalon," and the iconic swing performance of "Sing, Sing, Sing."

Today, this veteran of major jazz festivals from Montreux, Switzerland, to the Newport Jazz Festival in New York City, is also carving out his own niche as founder and leader of The Dave Stahl Big Band. The master musician's signature assembly of seasoned musicians will be performing at 7:30 p.m. Today, Aug. 15, at the Sharadin Bigler Theatre, home of the Ephrata Performing Arts Center. Tickets to this special EPAC concert presentation, are $15, including a coffee and dessert reception at intermission. The performances, scheduled for October 2013 through and May 2014, include: The swingin' big band group Big Bad Voodoo Daddy; the hilarious Broadway musical ELF; the inspirational African Gospel group Soweto Gospel Choir; and violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman. The on-sale date for single tickets to WICKED will be announced at a later date.
