Pride Films and Plays is delighted to announce the results of our 2016 LezPlay Contest. From nearly three dozen entries, five finalists have been selected to receive staged readings of their scripts during LezPlay Weekend, which runs October 7-9 at the Hoover-Leppen Theatre of Center on Halsted in Chicago.

Due to unprecedented advance ticket sales, STAGES St. Louis is thrilled to announce the addition of a special matinee performance to the original Sister Act show schedule. A conscious effort to meet patron demand, this extra show marks the first additional matinee STAGES has put on in its 30 year history. The added performance will be held on Thursday, September 29th at 2pm.

Barrel of Monkeys is pleased to mark 20 years of providing vital arts education to Chicago Public School students through its unique in-school programming. The company's ensemble of teaching artists and performers conducts six-week creative writing workshops with 3rd through 5th grade students, then transforms the students' stories into professionally performed theater, presented both in-school and for the general public through its revues.

The Glimmerglass Festival, one of the most prestigious opera festivals in the United States, has appointed Allen Perriello as the Director of their Young Artists Program, beginning Summer 2017. Perriello will remain as Arizona Opera's Head of Music and Director of the Marion Roose Pullin Opera Studio, a post he has held since 2012.

There's a real reason to rejoice for everybody's favorite nun, Deloris Van Cartier, is coming to STAGES to stir up her special brand of habit-forming fun! Playing September 9-October 9 at the Robert G. Reim Theatre in Kirkwood, Sister Act will close STAGES' 30th Anniversary Season with the gift of laughter, the power of music, and a touch of heavenly inspiration.

On Monday, August 15th, STAGES St. Louis hosted its 8th annual one-night only cabaret event, Cheers!, benefitting the organization's Education and Artistic Programs.

Mesa Arts Center will celebrate the start of its 2016-17 season with a free, family-friendly kickoff festival titled Between the Lines on Friday, September 9, 2016, 6-10 p.m. The event is inspired by the theme of exhibitions opening in Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum that same evening, which is contemporary art inspired by literature. Festival goers will see live performances, hear nonstop live music, watch live street artists and see artist demonstrations on the campus Shadow Walk, tour Mesa Arts Center's art studios and enjoy delicious foods from local vendors such as Paleta's Betty, Waffle Love food truck, and Firehouse Kettle Corn.

Jackalope Theatre Company wraps up its 8th season with The 7th Annual Living Newspaper Festival. In homage to the 1930's Living Newspapers of the Federal Theatre Project, Jackalope has assembled an exciting group of Chicago playwrights, directors, and actors to dramatize stories ripped from recent newspaper headlines.

The Woods Hole Theater Company (WHTC), located in Woods Hole a part of Falmouth on Cape Cod will present 'Eddie and The Palaceades' In Concert August 12-13 at the Community Hall at 68 Water Street, Woods Hole. Performances are 7:00 PM Today and 1:30 and 7:00 PM Saturday. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased at www.woodsholetheater.org or at the door on a first come first serve basis.

Street Theatre Company has a well-earned reputation for choosing off-the-wall cult classics and for staging traditional musicals with an edgy spin. In the third show of its 2016 season, STC combines both with the Tony-winning, side-splittingly hilarious musical URINETOWN.

Two Lives, Many Dances by Francesca García Pratten follows the story of the author's parents, the celebrated dance couple, Tito and Corinne Valdez. From their respective early family life to the sensational rise of their dance career, Tito and Corinne would become a showbiz staple renowned for their individual choreography and the magic that rode on the flashy and exotic when they dance as a pair.

The only thing missing was the cow being in labour. Practically an episode of Packed to the Rafters if it were guest-written by Seth MacFarlane, The Beast brought together three pouty but no less gorgeous gals, the Australian Zachary Quinto, a True North reject and I'm pretty sure the guy from Wolf Creek along with playwright who's the playwright, don't forget he's so talented he's the playwright who wrote this between kissing Kat Stewart on the nose a lot in Offspring, Eddie Penultimate. If you're gunning to be the godparents of your best friend's children, take them to see this! It's bloodthirsty and backward, really gets to the core of humanity: Hipster nonsense.
