Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) announces the new performing arts series MIT Performing, signaling a new destination in the performing arts scene in BostonCambridge. Curated by Professor Jay Scheib, the series launches with performance artist Adrienne Truscott's celebrated solo work THIS, Andrew Schneider's new production NERVOUSSYSTEM and Ayesha Jordan's one-woman sci-fi telenovela Shasta Geaux Pop, developed in collaboration with Charlotte Brathwaite, MIT Assistant Professor of Theater Arts. MIT Performing envisions an array of productions, lectures and new performance idioms throughout the year. Following on these three productions, internationally renowned solo performer Lisa Dwan will present her lecturedemonstration 'A Body of Beckett,' followed by a new theater work to be developed by director Jay Scheib with an international cast of collaborators.

New York City Center announced today full programming for the 15th Fall for Dance Festival (Oct 1 - 13). Opening the landmark 75th Anniversary Season, the Festival showcases an international array of dance artists and companies in five unique programs. Asolo Rep proudly presents an FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training touring production of William Shakespeare's magical masterpiece THE TEMPEST. This inventive, new 45-minute adaptation will be directed by Asolo Rep Associate Artistic Director Celine Rosenthal and adapted by Tyler Dobrowsky, who streamlined last season's touring production of Julius Caesar. The ninth annual educational touring production will travel to schools and community venues throughout the state of Florida from September 25 through November 19. There will also be a special performance for educators, press and the public on Friday, September 28 at 6pm in the Cook Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

Westport Country Playhouse will stage "Man of La Mancha," the Tony Award-winning musical about Don Quixote's quest for "The Impossible Dream," from September 25 through October 13. Directed by Mark Lamos, Westport Country Playhouse artistic director, the story of Quixote's battle for good and the love of his fair maiden is written by Dale Wasserman, with music by Mitch Leigh, and lyrics by Joe Darion.

Asolo Repertory Theatre proudly announces Celine Rosenthal as its Associate Artistic Director. Rosenthal, previously an Artistic Associate and Directing Fellow at Asolo Rep, will serve as a member of the theatre's senior leadership team, collaborating with Producing Artistic Director Michael Donald Edwards in defining, planning and achieving the artistic vision of the theatre. Mari Marchbanks announced today the 2018 recipients of the biennial Horton Foote Prize, named in honor of the late playwright, which recognizes excellence in American theater. The 2018 Prize for Outstanding New American Play, presented to a work produced in the 2016-17 or 2017-18 seasons, is awarded to Cambodian Rock Band by Lauren Yee. The 2018 Prize for Promising New American Play, presented to a previously unproduced work, is awarded to India Pale Ale by Jaclyn Backhaus.
