The Joyce Announces 2019 CHOREOGRAPHERS & COCKTAILS Benefit

Continuing their decades-long commitment to cultivating appreciation of all varieties of dance, The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) will welcome arts patrons to its annual Choreographers & Cocktails event on Monday, October 28. Held at The Joyce Studio at Gibney Dance, the evening offers dance enthusiasts and supporters the opportunity to enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and a silent auction alongside celebrated dancers and choreographers while experiencing intimate open rehearsals. Cast Announced For StudioRep Season

The actors for #StudioREP inaugural season have been confirmed. Olivier nominated and West End Star David Burt will join the company of six which also includes Dave Fishley, Alice Bailey Johnson, Imogen Smith and Christopher Williams. In keeping with the spirit of the Rep tradition, the #Studio Rep company will always feature one acting graduate, so The New Actors Company is very proud to introduce Emma Byrne to the company who graduated from GSA this year.

New York Live Arts Announces Fall 2019-20 Season

Bill T. Jones, MacArthur Genius Award and National Medal of Arts awardee and Artistic Director of New York Live Arts, and Janet Wong, Associate Artistic Director, announced the New York Live Arts' fall 2019-2020 season today. 'Is there such a thing as 'we'? How and why do we come together?  What makes a community? These questions are on our minds as we enter our 9th season. How do artists embody and shed light on these questions?', said the team.

Eastern Music Festival Welcomes New Faculty For 2019 Season

Eastern Music Festival (EMF), a nationally recognized music festival and summer educational program based in the heart of North Carolina, announces five new faculty members for the 2019 season. Christopher Caudill (horn), Netanel Draiblate (violin), and Demondrae Thurman (euphonium) will join the faculty this month. Also joining on one-year contracts are Yolanda Bruno (violin) and Erin Zehngut (violin), both serving for EMF faculty that are on-leave this season.

The Films in Competition Announced For The 2019 American Black Film Festival

The 23rd Annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF) is excited to announce their distinctive 2019 lineup of narrative features, documentaries and short films in competition. Films are set to screen in Miami from June 13-15 at the Regal Cinemas South Beach and the New World Center.

10 Hairy Legs Will Hold Its First Live Streaming Event

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, will hold its first Live Streaming Event on Friday, May 17 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm to launch The 10HL Choreographic Initiative to raise $100,000 during the coming year. The Initiative will fund our overarching commitment to commissioning 10 works in the next 5 years. The Initiative serves to further demonstrate the company's commitment to the importance of bold and new choreographic voices in the field that challenge and inspire.

10 Hairy Legs Announces 7th New York Season

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, holds its 7th consecutive New York Season with a return to New York Live Arts June 27-29. Presented are World Premieres by Larry Keigwin and Adam Barruch. Barruch's work will have a newly composed score by Roarke Menzies. Larry Keigwin is a native New Yorker and choreographer who has danced his way from the Metropolitan Opera to Broadway and back. He founded KEIGWIN + COMPANY in 2003 and as artistic director, he has led the company as it has performed at The Kennedy Center, The Joyce Theater, The Guggenheim, and New York City Center, among many other venues. Adam Barruch currently creates and performs work under the epithet of his own company, Anatomiae Occultii. In addition, he has also created works for companies such as The Limón Company, Ailey II, Keigwin + Company, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, River North Dance Chicago, BalletX, Whim W'Him Seattle Contemporary Dance, Graham II, GroundWorks Dance Theater, Gina Gibney Dance Company and Minnesota Dance Theatre, as well as for dance icons Margie Gillis and Miki Orihara.

10 Hairy Legs Choreographic Commissions Search Yields Overwhelming Response

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, received 100+ responses to its call to choreographers to create new works for the company. Submissions included candidates from across the United States, Europe, Puerto Rico and India. 44% of the submissions were from women. Candidates were asked to submit a vision for the work in 10 words or less and a video that best represents their aesthetic.

10 Hairy Legs Seeks Two Paid Apprentices for Spring Season

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company will teach 4 Int/Adv Contemporary Classes at STEPS on Broadway Wednesdays and Fridays January 9 - 18 from 3:00 - 4:30 pm. Artistic Director Randy James and members of the Artistic Staff will oversee and observe all the classes. Class begins with dynamic floor sequences that warm up the body's core, using the floor as a tool to explore connectivity throughout the entire body. The floor sequences build on one another, bringing the mover to standing phrases across the floor. Once on two feet the class establishes the body's connection with dynamic shifts in and out of the ground, culminating in a final phrase that builds upon the body's exploration of different initiations with supple and expressive virtuosity. Phrase work from our extensive repertory of commissioned and curated work will be explored.

10 Hairy Legs Launches Search For New Choreographic Commissions

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, will accept and consider submissions to create new works for the company. The initiative is open to anyone seeking to work with the company. Submissions must include a maximum of 10 words to describe the choreographer's vision for the work and a link to one sample representing that artist's dance esthetic.

Jack Ferver Returns to New York Live Arts

Jack Ferver's critically acclaimed Everything Is Imaginable returns to New York Live Arts' mainstage as the finale to the 2019 Live Arteryplatform during the annual Association of Performing Arts Professionals conference, January 7, 2019 at 10pm and January 8-12 at 8pm. Presented in collaboration withAmerican Realness, Ferver's radiant and evocative dance-theater piece juxtaposes the lives, virtuosity, and fantasies of its five queer performers.
