Five Boroughs Music Festival Announces 10th Anniversary Season

Five Boroughs Music Festival (5BMF) today announces programming for its tenth anniversary season, continuing its mission of bringing affordable, high-caliber performances of traditional and contemporary chamber music to all five boroughs of New York City. 

Make Music New York Presents the Fourth Annual MAKE MUSIC WINTER, 12/21

Make Music New York has announced the fourth annual Make Music Winter, taking place on Sunday, December 21, 2014, the shortest day of the year. From The Bronx to Williamsburg, thirteen participatory musical parades will enliven streets, parks, and other public spaces throughout four of the city's five boroughs.

Sacred Music in a Sacred Space Begins 2014-15 Choral Season Tonight

After a triumphant season debut in 2013 heralded as 'broad, wide-ranging and powerful' by The New York Times, Sacred Music in a Sacred Space begins its 2014-15 Choral season tonight, October 22 at 7pm with Mozart's Mass in C minor-a majestic setting featuring double chorus. The Choir and Orchestra of St. Ignatius Loyola and a phenomenal line-up of soloists (Martha Guth and Marguerite Krull, sopranos; Steven Caldicott Wilson, tenor; Christopher Dylan Herbert, baritone) under the direction of K. Miller Theatre at Columbia University Presents WONDROUS BIRTH Featuring the New York Polyphony, 12/14

Miller Theatre's 'essential' (The New Yorker) Early Music series has been lauded as a leader in New York's burgeoning historical performance scene. This year Miller once again plays host to some of the world's leading early music ensembles and young upstarts alike. Miller favorites Le Poème Harmonique and Stile Antico return, along with locals New York Polyphony. The Orlando Consort celebrates a 25th anniversary of their own at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin. The series will also feature world premiere performances of two new commissions, from composers Andrew Smith and Michael Nyman—a first for the series. Nyman's work, written for The Tallis Scholars, celebrates both Miller's milestone anniversary and The Tallis Scholars' 40th year.
