Full Program Announced for 2021 Grimeborn Opera Festival

The Hungarian National Ballet Presents DON JUAN

The paid stream series of the Hungarian State Opera is to continue with Don Juan, a choreography by a renowned personality of the French dance scene, Thierry Malandain. The production that premieres online on 6 March 2021, at 8:00 p.m. CET and is available for one night only, is his first collaboration with the Hungarian National Ballet.

The Canadian Opera Company Announces 2020/2021 Season!

For the first time in decades, a fully staged production of Richard Wagner's Parsifal will be presented in Canada, opening the Canadian Opera Company's monumental 2020/2021 season with a company premiere at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. Cast with more than 100 singers, an orchestra of 110 musicians, and a nearly six-hour run-time, this journey of one knight's quest for the Holy Grail offers Canadian audiences a rare opportunity to experience Wagner's thrilling final masterpiece in Toronto, in a celebrated COC co-production directed by François Girard.

Early Music New York Will Present SYMPHONIC ZENITH at First Church of Christ

The third program in Early Music New York's 45th anniversary season under the rubric 'Harmony of the Spheres' will open, fittingly, with an early symphony by William Herschel, who would go on to become the foremost astronomer of his age, and discoverer of the seventh planet, Uranus. The composers on this program will emerge from the eclipsing shadow of the classical period's 'stars' (Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven) to illuminate an era of almost infinite variety with music deserving of discovery.

SDSU Opera presents RE: EURIDICE/ORFEO

SDSU Opera presents RE: Euridice/Orfeo, a production presented in two acts and featuring operas by Jacopo Peri and Christoph Willibald Gluck. It's directed by Alan E. Hicks, SDSU Director of Opera Theatre, who serves a joint appointment with the San Diego Opera and SDSU. It features two different takes on the Orpheus myth.

A semi-staged, English-language production led by conductor Gil Rose,The Chronicle of Nine unites Odyssey Opera (one of the nation's most innovative opera companies), BMOP(the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music), and internationally renowned singers including soprano Megan Pachecano playing the lead role of Lady Jane Grey. This marks the third of six productions of Odyssey Opera'sseason-long exploration of operatic works inspired by the great English dynasty of the 16th century:the Tudors.

Brooklyn Youth Chorus To Perform At Brooklyn Borough President's Tree Lighting and Holiday Shows

The GRAMMY Award-winning Brooklyn Youth Chorus---recently featured in the New York Times, on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and on Fox 5 News at Six with Ernie Anastos---performs four free/cheap shows for the home borough this holiday season next week. Locals can catch the starry Chorus for free at the Brooklyn Borough President's Tree Lighting (Dec. 11 at 5:15p), and with affordable tickets to three concert programs at Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph with Holiday Harmonies (Dec. 13th at 7:30pm and Dec. 14th at 2:30pm), as well as Winter's Eve (Dec. 14th at 7:30pm). The 28-year-old Brooklyn institution draws 7-17 year old singers from all five boroughs, and has established a national profile as the go-to youth choir for classical, pop, theatrical, and out-of-the-box collaborations with A-list artists and institutions like Bon Iver, The National, Beyonce & Jay-Z, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, the New York Philharmonic, Nico Muhly, and Caroline Shaw.
