Symphony Space pays exuberant homage to the Great White Way with Project B-way/95, a two-week celebration comprising 14 events, April 7 - 20. Curated and Produced by Joel Fram and Annette Jolles, and named for the intersection where Symphony Space stands, Project B-way/95 salutes Broadway with an exciting array of concerts, tributes, film screenings, discussions, workshops, and more. Anchored by three starry concerts in the Sharp Theatre - an evening with the incomparable Patti LuPone (Tuesday, April 19), the cheerfully nepotistic "All in the Family" with Kelli O'Hara (Monday, April 11), and this year's installment of Symphony Space's signature event, Wall to Wall Stephen Schwartz (Saturday, April 16) - Project B-way/95 offers something for every lover of American musical theater. 'Lady and the Vamp' celebrates female musical theatre songwriters. This concert showcases today's female composers and lyricists, with the goal of visibility and gender equality in musical theatre. These ladies are 'breaking the glissando ceiling' in an evening of wine, women, and song.
Last weekend in New York, Weston Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Steve Stettler accepted the 2015 Rosetta LeNoire Award from the Actors' Equity Association. The award, named after noted actor and producer Rosetta LeNoire, is given in recognition of outstanding artistic contributions that highlight the universality of the human spirit through diversity in casting and programming, and for commitment to cultivating new works by writers of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater welcomes Alan Campbell to Seminar, directed by Christine Toy Johnson, with Satomi Blair, Jacob Heimer, Rachel Casparian and local favorite Ben Berry. Seminar opens with previews May 14, 15, and runs Thursdays to Mondays through June 13.
