HAIRSPRAY Announces Second UK Tour in 2017/18

Today, producer Mark Goucher has confirmed that following the phenomenal success of the current UK tour, the new production of Hairspray will return at the end of summer 2017 to once again tour the UK. This second tour of the smash hit musical will visit venues across the country until the spring of 2018. Casting, dates and locations for the 2017/18 tour will be announced in due course.

USA Renews ROYAL PAINS for Final Season

USA Network gives its viewers one last dose ofROYAL PAINS when the hit drama airs its eighth and final season beginning Wednesday, May 18 at 10pm et/pt with eight all-new episodes. The esteemed summer series, from Universal Cable Productions and creator and executive producer Andrew Lenchewski and executive producer Michael Rauch, has captivated a loyal fan base and consistently ranked as a top 10 series across all key demos on its night for all seven seasons.

The Puppini Sisters to Play Second Bay Area Cabaret Show

In addition, at 2 pm on Saturday, April 16 at the Fairmont's Laurel Court Restaurant, Bay Area Cabaret will host a High Tea/High Fashion event celebrating the panache and style that defines The Puppini Sisters. Vintage attire is encouraged for this event, which will provide an opportunity to welcome the singers to town, hear them sing an a cappella number and see an array of fashions by local vintage fashion enthusiasts.  Reservations for the afternoon tea - $75 ($40 tax deductible) may be made at www.bayareacabaret.org.

Cabaret performers and musicians and fans of the art form tend to refer to the people in this tight-knit niche as "the Cabaret Community." Well, that community is really coming together for one of its own with a benefit concert to raise funds for the extremely popular actor, director, and cabaret performer Erin Cronican, one of a very rare group of women in her 30s who is staging a fierce battle with breast cancer. The star-studded show, billed as Cabaret Beats Cancer and a call to arms to "Crush The Beast" is at Don't Tell Mama (343 West 46th Street, 212-757-0788) on February 27 at 5 pm.

Today, we introduce you to four cast members from In The Heights - Lipscomb University's Bekah Purifoy, Belmont University's Chris D. Lee and Arik Vega, and one of the newest members of the Nashville theater community, Ashley Wolfe. Purifoy is a 2015 First Night Most Promising Actor, while Lee and Vega are members of the 2016 Class. Wolfe electrified the audience with her performance at Midwinter's First Night in January.

Michael Korie to Receive Blitzstein Award for Musical Theater

The American Academy of Arts and Letters announces that librettist/lyricist Michael Korie will receive the Marc Blitzstein Award for Musical Theater of $10,000. Established in 1965 by friends of the late Academician Marc Blitzstein in his memory, the award is given to a composer, lyricist, or librettist to encourage the creation of works of merit for musical theater and opera. The jurors were John Harbison (chairman), J. D. McClatchy, Shulamit Ran, Augusta Read Thomas, and Yehudi Wyner.
