Luther Burbank Center for the Artsand the Santa Rosa Symphony present a special holiday treat as a part of the2016-2017 Symphony Pops Series on Sunday, December 11 at 3 p.m. with A Charlie Brown Christmas Concert. Quickly becoming a favorite on everyone's holiday “must-do” list, this festive afternoon concert features songs from the 1965 classic “Peanuts” animated special as well as other traditional Christmas favorites. Special guest pianist and Steinway Artist Jim Martinez, along with his Quartet, join the Santa Rosa Symphony under the baton of Principal Pops Conductor Michael Berkowitz in paying tribute to famous Snoopy songs, with music written or arranged by Vince Guaraldi.

On a Wednesday night in 1942, Newark teenager Sarah Vaughan went to the Apollo Theater to compete in an amateur singing contest. It was the chance to win $10 and a weeklong engagement performing on the Apollo stage. Instead, Vaughan's win launched her career and forever changed the art of jazz vocal music.

David Sanborn has released 24 albums, won six Grammy® Awards, and has had eight gold albums and one platinum album. Having inspired countless other musicians, Sanborn has worked in many genres which typically blend instrumental pop, R&B and lately, more and more traditional jazz. He released his first solo album Taking Offin 1975, but has been playing the saxophone since before he was in high school.

The 59th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival wrapped up Sunday, September 18 after a weekend of debut artists, returning masters and new favorites. Over 36,600 fans came through the gates of the Monterey County Fairgrounds during the weekend of September 16-18. The weekend featured a festival record-breaking 115 performances of diverse styles of music from around the globe, from tributes and piano trios; big bands to modern jazz, Cuban, blues and fusion groups, mixed with historic conversations, films, and exhibits.

Following the success of last season's new DEMO series, Damian Woetzel continues to unite artists from across fields around a common theme in a performance on October 10, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater. This installment of the multi-genre series brings together acclaimed artists for a special one-night performance to celebrate their heroes and artistic inspirations. SAN FRANCISCO, June 28— The San Francisco Symphony and Director of Summer Concerts Edwin Outwater perform a free outdoor concert on Sunday, July 24 at 12 noon on the grassy plaza in front of the James R. Herman Cruise Terminal at Pier 27, located on the Embarcadero at the foot of Lombard Street. The Orchestra performs a concert of Russian music, including Shostakovich's Festive Overture, Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, and Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 with pianist Makoto Ozone. Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics to enjoy during the performance. Valet bike parking will be available.
