New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents an evening with Multi-Grammy-nominated singer and pianist Bruce Hornsby ("The Way It Is," "Mandolin Rain") appears in concert and conversation with Grammy-winning bassist Christian McBride.

Now in its fourth year as part of the TD James Moody Jazz Festival at NJPAC, the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, also known as the SASSY awards, has chosen five jazz singers to perform in the Victoria Theater. This international jazz vocal competition for women, the only one of its kind, honors the talent of its namesake by giving one outstanding performer a platform to embark on a career in the music business.

To kick off the 30th anniversary season of their partnership with Carnegie Hall, Harlem Stage is excited to collaborate with the Carnegie Neighborhood Concert Series (a program of the Weill Institute) to present singer Alicia Olatuja on November 18.

The categories cover a wide array of styles: male vocalist, female vocalist, best ensemble, best new artist, and many more.

The Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition is the world's most visible jazz vocal competition of its kind and provides a platform for one outstanding female singer to launch a career in the music industry. The competition started in 2012 and was co-produced by NJPAC and JAZZ ROOTS, a Larry Rosen Production. Jazz fans are invited to review and vote for entries online; then five finalists are selected for a live performance at NJPAC as part of the TD James Moody Jazz Festival, where a panel of expert judges decides the recipient of the SASSY Award.

Over the course of 30 years, Harlem Stage has become one of the nation's leading arts organizations, achieving this distinction by commissioning, developing, producing and presenting innovative works by visionary artists of color. Their Fall 2015 season offers a variety of events, including free neighborhood concerts and ticketed headlining events, as well as lectures and roundtable discussions that advance deeper engagement with Harlem Stage's audience. All will take place in the state-of-the art flexible performance space, the Harlem Stage Gatehouse.

Neil Tesser, a Chicago-based jazz journalist, broadcaster, author, educator, former chair of the board of trustees of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences (NARAS) and current board member of the Jazz Journalists Association, was honored with the JJA's 2015 Lifetime Achievement in Jazz Journalism Award on Tuesday, June 16 at a cocktail reception at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City. Tesser's Award topped 2015 JJA Jazz Awards for excellence in media, winners of which were announced at the party.
