On Thursday, Abingdon Theatre Company celebrated the opening night of THE MOTHER OF INVENTION, a new play written by James Lecesne about how one family deals with the effects of Alzheimer's. Directed by Tony Speciale, the company includes Concetta Tomei, James Davis, Dan Domingues, Angela Reed, Isabella Russo and Dale Soules, with performances set to run through February 26. The Amoralists, in association with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, have announced casting and the design team for their world premiere of Ken Urban's NIBBLER, directed by Benjamin Kamine. NIBBLER runs from February 23 - March 18, 2017 in a limited engagement.

Irish Repertory Theatre will present Eugene O'Neill's THE EMPEROR JONES, directed by Ciaran O'Reilly (Shining City) this spring, starring Obi Abili (Ivo van Hove's Antigone at BAM). THE EMPEROR JONES begins performances on March 1, 2017 at Irish Rep Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage, opens on March 12, and runs through April 23, 2017.

Concetta Tomei, best known for her roles on TV's China Beach and Providence and on stage in The Elephant Man (opposite David Bowie) and Sarah Ruhl's The Clean House, leads the cast of Abingdon Theatre Company's world premiere of THE MOTHER OF INVENTION, a new play by Academy Award, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award-winner James Lecesne, as Dottie Nerber.

The critically acclaimed off-Broadway hit The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, written by and starring James Lecesne, the writer of the Academy Award-winning film Trevor comes to the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts for a limited performance engagement Friday, December 2 through Sunday, December 4. 

Actors Theatre's current staging of Macbeth is loud, bloody, and glorious. It's far from a definitive take on one of the Bard's finest tragedies, and no doubt some purists will wince at the modern dress and liberties taken with the script-gone is 'double, double, toil and trouble' as well as the entire porter scene- but for this horror movie fan and Halloween junkie, it's hard to imagine a better production.

Abingdon Theatre Company recently celebrated the opening night of STET, a new play which has extended its Off-Broadway performances through July 10. Written by Kim Davies and developed by Kim Davies, Jocelyn Kuritsky and Tony Speciale, STET is produced in association with The Muse Project.  Artistic Director Tony Speciale directs the world-premiere drama inspired by the Rolling Stone article 'A Rape on Campus.'
