An all-new production of The Phantom of the Opera opens at the Temple Buell Theater, just in time for its 25th anniversary.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA I just experienced at the Kennedy Center renewed my faith in the show: it is a delight for all the senses, possesses dazzling stagecraft, and is performed by a cast that mines the romance, danger, and intrigue from the story and score. I declare this production a dream come true. Chris Mann, formerly a contestant on THE VOICE headlines the show in the title role, performing with mystery and power. His Christine on the night I attended, Kaitlyn Davis, was stunning, as well.

Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA announces the return of Julia Udine to the national tour.  Ms. Udine will resume performances as 'Christine Daae,' the role which she created for the national tour and most recently starred as on Broadway, for the Washington DC engagement at the Kennedy Center July 13-August 20 and the Denver engagement at Buell Hall August 25-September 11.  Katie Travis will return to the role in the fall.

 Moonlight Cultural Foundation announces the headline acts for their upcoming benefit concerts: Well-Strung on Saturday, July 9, 2016 and "Chris Mann & Shoshana Bean in Concert" on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista, Calif. Both acts will come to San Diego County to perform to raise much-needed funds for the foundation's arts programs.

Famed director Quentin Tarantino continues to confirm that he will adapt his hit film THE HATEFUL EIGHT to the stage in the near future.

Tarantino once again teased the idea of bringing his latest film, THE HATEFUL EIGHT, to the stage.

?Victory Gardens Theater today announces the departure of Managing Director Christopher Mannelli.  Mannelli has accepted a position as Executive Director of the Geva Theatre Center in Rochester, NY.  Mannelli will remain at Victory Gardens through February 26, 2016.  The board of directors has begun a national search for his successor. 

While the setting, style, and time period of Quentin Tarantino movies have changed throughout the years, there are three things that have remained consistent; ensembles of gleefully flawed characters; depraved, but often gorgeously bloody violence; and lots and lots of profanity. While the theatre is no stranger to violence or profanity, it is his legendary ability to create compelling, but bizarre characters that has led me to say in print and on podcasts that if the 52-year-old writer and director had been born a few decades earlier, Tarantino could have been one of America's greatest playwrights, alongside Williams, O'Neill, Miller, Stoppard, and Mamet.
