The PIT Announces Extended Performances Of Family Musical PLUTO IS MISSING! Now Through 6/24 Image

PLUTO IS MISSING!, the family-friendly musical comedy currently running at the Peoples Improv Theater (The PIT) in New York City, will begin a spring run of seven performances starting on April 29th at 3pm.

After a terrific winter run which saw capacity crowds, the show has been extended into June 2018 with an autumn return in the works. Written, directed and produced by Emily Duncan and Chris Mann, the show builds on Pluto's real 2006 reclassification to dwarf planet, imagining the little planetoid's subsequent cosmic journey of self-discovery.

As Pluto (Mallory Wu) departs the solar system looking for a way to regain its planet status, a pair of ardent astrophysicists (Duncan & Aria Shahghasemi) fields the fallout from Pluto's demotion and subsequent disappearance here on Earth. This fun and fantastical story of Pluto's journey, created by Mann, stems from his lifelong interest in space and a desire for thoughtful and engaging programming for the young people in his family and beyond.

A blend of real science and flight of fancy, the show uses puppets, live music and animated visuals to engage the five-to-ten set, while adults will appreciate the witty script, catchy songs and pop culture references. Since its premiere in October, the show has been playing to crowds full of enthusiastic kids and parents and has begun performing to school groups, including spending a wonderful day with the students of Cedar Hill School in Montville, NJ.

PLUTO IS MISSING! begins its spring slate at The PIT (123 E 24th St. in NYC) on April 29th, running most Sundays (with two Saturday shows on June 9th and 16th) at 3pm, through June 24th. Tickets $20 via thepit-nyc.com, with group rates available. For additional information about tickets, contact The PIT at 212-563-7488 or email info@thepitnyc.com. More information on the show at PlutoIsMissing.com.

The cast includes Calvin Cole, Alfonso Giansanti, Aria Shahghasemi, Mallory Wu, Chris Mann and Emily Duncan. Puppets designed by Julia Darden.
