New Theatre and Restaurant's production of Neil Simon's 'Biloxi Blues' transports its 2019 audience back to Army boot camp during the closing days of World War II.   Simon has been mostly recognized for plays that depend on situations producing comedy and quick laughs. 'Biloxi Blues' is more serious.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues its 2018/19 season with a 38-year holiday tradition, Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL, running November 16 through December 30 at Spencer Theatre on the UMKC campus.

The production will be directed by Doug Weaver and will star Cinnamon Schultz, Coleman Crenshaw, Vanessa Severo, Jan Rogge, Matt Rapport, Cheryl Weaver, and Margaret Shelby. The production team includes Kelli Harrod (Scenic Designer), Bill Christie (Properties Designer), Sarah M. Oliver (Costume Designer), Kylor Greene (Lighting Designer), Shelbi Arndt (Co-Lighting Designer), Jonathan Robertson (Sound Designer), Matthew Schorr (Co-Sound Designer), Alex Murphy (Stage Manager), and Kyle Dyck (Technical Director).

Spinning Tree Theatre proudly produces Mark Hampton and Mary Louise Wilson's FULL GALLOP January 26-February 11. Cheryl Weaver stars as fashion doyenne Diana Vreeland in this one-woman play. The Kansas City premiere is directed by Doug Weaver.

Spinning Tree Theatre proudly produces the Kansas City premiere of Harvey Fierstein's CASA VALENTINA October 27 November 12. Four-time Tony Award winner Fierstein (Kinky Boots, Newsies, La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy) based his 2014 play on actual events.

The 1947 musical fantasy FINIAN'S RAINBOW, with music by Burton Lane and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg, gets the Spinning Tree-tment September 1-17. The score, "one of the most enduringly delicious ever concocted for an American musical" (The New York Times), includes "Old Devil Moon," "How are things in Glocca Morra" and "Look to the Rainbow."

Five expert actors led by Morgan Fairchild entertain with sight gags, snappy dialog, and true caring for their oldest friends.

Widely considered the most controversial musical ever written, ASSASSINS premiered off-Broadway in 1990 at Playwrights Horizons and won the 2004 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival. This is a unique vision of American history told through imagined interactions between antiheroes from John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald…from Charles Guiteau to John Hinckley. ASSASSINS is recommended for mature audiences.
