Artisitic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah successfully adds his play to the 'Raisin Cycle'.

On Wednesday, May 8, CENTERSTAGE begins previews of the World Premiere production of Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah's new play, Beneatha's Place. The production, playing in rotating repertory with Clybourne Park, forms the second half of The Raisin Cycle. Opening Night for Beneatha's Place will be on Wednesday, May 15.

Center Stage announces the Baltimore premiere of Bruce Norris' 'Cylbourne Park,' the first of two plays slated to run in rotating repertory this spring as 'The Raisin Cycle,' picking up where playwright Lorraine Hansberry left off in her famed work, 'A Raisin in the Sun.'

CENTERSTAGE announces the Baltimore Premiere of Bruce Norris' highly acclaimed Clybourne Park, the first of two landmark plays slated to run in rotating repertory this spring as The Raisin Cycle. The Baltimore Premiere of Clybourne Park begins previews April 10, and the World Premiere of CENTERSTAGE Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah's Beneatha's Place begins May 8.

The Pulitzer Prize winner Fences, perhaps the best-loved chapter in August Wilson's 10-play cycle exploring African-American life in 20th Century America, will open Virginia Stage Company's (VSC) 34th Season. Fencesruns September 25 - October 14, 2012 at downtown Norfolk's Wells Theatre.

Signature Theatre has just announced a one-week extension for the world premiere of Katori Hall's HURT VILLAGE, directed by Patricia McGregor. This inaugural production in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at the company's new home The Pershing Square Signature Center will now play through Sunday, March 25. HURT VILLAGE opened on Monday, February 27. Tickets during the extension week are $75 each.

The cast of the Off-Broadway show HURT VILLAGE has been working on 'jookin' dancing: a form of dancing which originated in Memphis, where the show takes place. In the following video, the cast shows off their moves in an upbeat, energy-filled rehearsal.

Signature Theatre has just announced casting for the new production of BLOOD KNOT, written and directed by Athol Fugard. The production will feature Tony Award-nominee Colman Domingo (The Scottsboro Boys) as Zachariah and Obie Award-winner Scott Shepherd (Gatz) as Morris. BLOOD KNOT, which is the first play in the Residency One: Athol Fugard Series, runs January 31 - March 11, 2012 with a February 16th opening night. BLOOD KNOT is the first of three Fugard shows Signature will present this season, and is the inaugural production in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at the Company's new Frank Gehry-designed home Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between Dyer and 10th Avenues).

Filipino actor and Obie Award winner Arthur Acuña shares the stage with Michael Louis Wells and Charlie Hudson in Ensemble Studio Theatre's (EST) repeat of Qui Nguyen's 2007 one act dark comedy play Bike Wreck. The play is part of EST's "Marathon 2011: The 33rd Festival of 1Act Plays - Series A" running from May 20 to June 18 at the EST Theatre on West 52nd Street.
