A diverse group of panelists, including an acclaimed stage and TV actor, a Drama Desk winning writer/actor, a five-time TONY Award nominated actress, a highly heralded playwright and a veteran actress and comedienne will assemble next Monday, January 12, at 6 PM to participate in the Drama Desk's first panel discussion of 2015, entitled 'Art Imitates Art: The Enduring Appeal of Theater About Theater.'

Charles Wright, long-time Drama Desk member, has been elected the new President of the Drama Desk by its membership voting electronically in approval of the projected Officers and Board of Director slate for 2014-2015.] He assumed the Presidency at this evening's annual membership meeting, held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Travel Inn, 515 West 42nd Street. Mr. Wright was introduced as the incoming President by outgoing President Isa Goldberg, who was elected to remain on the Board as a Member-at-Large.

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra joins WRCJ 90.9 FM and the Detroit Public Schools Foundation for KICKSTART YOUR SUMMER today, May 17, from 10 am to 3 pm. The event will take place at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, 315 E. Warren Avenue in Detroit. It features continuous live entertainment, a Kids' Fun Room, including an Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra Instrument Petting Zoo. Instrument Petting Zoo is all about hands-on fun with instruments. Children have the chance to get up close and personal with the orchestral instruments they see professionally played on stage.

Philadelphia Theatre Company presents PTC@Play, a two-week festival of new work today, February 18-March 3 at PTC's home at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets). The festival will feature staged readings of four new plays by both established and emerging playwrights, a new play with music in development starring Tony and Barrymore Award winner Forrest McClendon as African American vaudeville legend Bert Williams, and an evening of short plays, FuturePhilly@Play, by seven emerging playwrights. Each playwright will be in-residence at PTC for their reading, and every reading will conclude with a reception where audiences and artists can meet. All events are free with curtain time at 7:30 PM. A highlight of PTC@Play will be the February 18th announcement of the winner of the Terrence McNally New Play Award, a $10,000 cash prize given annually to recognize a new play that celebrates the transformative power of art.
