The York Theatre Company, and its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series, present the New York premiere of three new musicals: Mark Felt, Superstar with book, music and lyrics by Joshua Rosenblum; Paris Through the Window, with book & lyrics by Charles Osborne and music by Leo Hurley; and We Foxes with book, lyrics and music by Ryan Scott Oliver at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). The readings are open to the public with a suggested donation of $5.00.

PAGEANT is back at the Cygnet Theatre and James Vasquez is happy to be the man that directs this new production. I was able to chat with him between rehearsals to chat about bringing the Glamouresse pageant back to the stage. PAGEANT is playing at the Cygnet Theatre through Sunday, August 31.

Cygnet Theatre Season 12 gets off to a rollicking start with the return of audience favorite and off-Broadway hit, Pageant, just in time for summer fun. James Vasquez directs and choreographs this hilarious mash-up of a beauty pageant and a drag musical that let's audience members decide who is crowned the winner. The talented and funny David McBean returns as Miss Deep South and Phil Johnson reprises his role as the wacky master of ceremonies. With Book and Lyrics by Bill Russell (Side Show) and Frank Kelly (The Texas Chainsaw Musical) and Music by Albert Evans, this crowd pleasing romp about beauty contestants runs from today, July 10 - August 31. Opening night for media is July 19.

The Little Opera Theatre of NY announces its Winter 2014 production of Gioachino Rossini's one-act rarity, Opportunity Makes the Thief (L'occasione fa il ladro, ossia Il cambio della valigia ). Eight performances will be presented from February 22 through March 2, 2014 at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Performance times are 8:15 pm for Fridays and Saturdays, including February 22, February 28, and March 1; 7:15 pm for Tuesday-Thursday performances, including February 25, 26, 27, and 3:15 pm for two Sunday matinees, February 23, and March 2. The cast of Riverside Theatre's production of Funny Girl has done a music video to Jazmine Sullivan's song, 'Switch'. Directed and choreographed by Jeffrey Scott Stevens, who played the Ziegfeld Tenor and other ensemble roles, the music video showcases many of the cast members and was shot at various locations in Vero Beach including: the theatre's backstage area (dressing rooms, rehearsal hall), on the beach, poolside, and other locations. Riverside Theatre's Simply Amazing Season continues with the Broadway smash musical hit, Funny Girl.
