A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS Returns to Emerald City Theatre this Holiday Season

Broadway In Chicago and Emerald City Theatre are pleased to announce A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS by Charles M. Schulz returns to the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Chestnut) November 11, 2016 through January 8, 2017, after playing to sold-out houses during the 2015 holiday season. Based on the television special by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson and adapted for the stage by Eric Schaefferby special arrangement with Arthur Whitelaw and Ruby Persson,  this newly-staged production of A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS will be directed by Ann Filmer.

Today in 1999, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown closed at the Ambassador Theatre, where it ran for 149 performances. You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a 1967 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts. The revival cast featured Anthony Rapp as Charlie Brown, Kristin Chenoweth as Sally and Roger Bart as Snoopy.

Today in 1971, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown opened at the John Golden Theatre, where it ran for 32 performances. You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a 1967 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts. Directed by Joseph Hardy and with choreography by Patricia Birch, the 1971 cast included Grant Cowan as Snoopy and Dean Stolber as Charlie Brown.

BWW Review: LDoT's YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN

Onstage through Saturday night at Lipscomb University's Collins Auditorium, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, represents a musical theater genre that has fallen out of favor in the 21st Century: its very innocence and perceived lack of guile guarantee that it will ultimately become the stuff of community theater, academic theater and their ilk. After watching the show play out on stage - even when it's directed by Kari Smith with gleeful exuberance - you can't help but wonder how it ever played Broadway (Twice, even!), even after a rather successful mid-1960s off-Broadway stand.

The Garden Theatre, located at 160 West Plant Street in historic Winter Garden, is pleased to announce its 2016-2017 Theatre Season, running from September 2016 - May 2017.  In addition to the six full-length theatrical presentations, the season will be dotted with weekend events such as music and dance concerts, as well as movies and holiday offerings. USS Hornet Museum to Host Special Panel for Cartoons at War

On Saturday March 19th, the USS Hornet Museum (Hornet) will host a special panel of professional cartoonists to mark the grand finale of Cartoons at War: American Cartoons and Comics in WWII and Beyond. The panel discussion will start at 1 p.m. and delve into the fascinating theme of the exhibit: the power and influence of American political cartoons and wartime comics, from both the frontlines and the home front. Panelists include Corry Kanzenberg, curator of the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, CA, and award-winning cartoonist Brian Fies.

Today in 1999, You're A Good an Charlie Brown opened at the Ambassador Theatre, where it ran for 149 performances. A 1967 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, the show is based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts. THe 1999 revival featured new dialogue by Michael Mayer, who also directed, and additional songs and orchestration written by Andrew Lippa; choreography was by Jerry Mitchell. The cast featured Anthony Rapp, Kristin Chenoweth, and Roger Bart.

ABC to Air BE MY VALENTINE, CHARLIE BROWN & A CHARLIE BROWN VALENTINE

“Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown,” the 1975 special produced and animated by the same team that gave us the now classic holiday specials and taken directly from the late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz's famed comic strip, will air with the classic “A Charlie Brown Valentine,” FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EST) on the ABC Television Network. (OAD: 2/10/09)
