Currently playing at the Athens Theatre in DeLand is the classic musical YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN. Based off the comic strip made famous by Charles M. Schulz, the musical revolves around Charlie Brown and his group of friends. Here is a moment with Gabe Friedman, who plays Charlie Brown, to chat about his involvement in this show.

Today in 1999, You're A Good an Charlie Brown opened at the Ambassador Theatre, where it ran for 149 performances. A 1967 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, the show is based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts. THe 1999 revival featured new dialogue by Michael Mayer, who also directed, and additional songs and orchestration written by Andrew Lippa; choreography was by Jerry Mitchell. The cast featured Anthony Rapp, Kristin Chenoweth, and Roger Bart.

Today, being Saturday, we chose a cartoon. A REALLY POPULAR cartoon. The song in the video clip is 'Christmas Time Is Here' from A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS. The animated television special first aired on December 9, 1965 and was based on the famous characters in Charles M. Schulz' syndicated comic strip, PEANUTS. The comic strip began in 1950 and remained wildly popular until the year 2000.

The ABC Television Network and the PEANUTS gang will ring in the new year with the animated PEANUTS special, “Happy New Year, Charlie Brown,” created by late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, along with “She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown,” MONDAY, DECEMBER 29 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

In fact the encore PEANUTS special won the hour over Survivor in Adults 18-34, all key Women, Teens 12-17 and Kids 2-11, ranking as Wednesday's #1 TV show on the latter two measures.

However, the dinner he arranges is a disaster when the caterers, Snoopy and Woodstock, prepare toast and popcorn as the main dish. Set to music in a series of vignettes, "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" chronicles an average day in the life of Charlie Brown (Holland Noel) and his friends Linus (Richie Ferris), Lucy (Dorothy Dillingham Blue), Schroeder (John Devereaux), along with his sister Sally (Kristin Towers-Rowles), and of course his loyal dog Snoopy (Matt Steele). This little show is packed with heart and humor, expressed in the pure and honest simple truths of children, performed by a fun-loving and super energetic cast.
