Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater has revealed the cast and creative team for the world premiere of Tempestuous Elements, playwright Kia Corthron’s new work exploring the trailblazing career of visionary Black feminist and educational luminary Anna Julia Cooper.

Overture's Duck Soup Cinema silent film series, nationally known for providing an authentic silent film experience in the historic Capitol Theater, wraps up its 2022/23 season with “Ten Nights in a Bar Room” on Saturday, June 3.

A new work by ACT Theatre and the Hansberry Project, HISTORY OF THEATRE: ABOUT, BY, FOR, and NEAR will take you on a journey through time and space to meet the people who forged the foundations for Blacks in theater. The show dispels myths about minstrelsy, delves into the hows and whys of black face, and covers key players of early theater in America. Unheard voices are released, forgotten stars are remembered, and a rich legacy is revealed.

Restoration of the Capitol Theater's original Grand Barton Organ has been completed! With its homecoming comes the return of the Duck Soup Cinema silent film series, nationally known for providing an authentic silent film experience in the historic Capitol Theater.

The Keegan Theatre has announced the cast and team of Adrienne Earle Pender’s powerful historical drama, N, making its Regional Premiere as the second production of Keegan’s 25th Anniversary Season.

Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF), New York City's longest running international-competitive film festival, stands together with all New Yorkers to flatten the curve and stop the spread of COVID-19, announcing that its 23rd edition, themed TURNING POINT, will go on in the form of a virtual festival with its full film lineup of more than 140 films viewable for free from May 29 through June 7 at  www.brooklynfilmfestival.org.

The Village Players of Birmingham opens its 4th production of its 95th season with James Lapine's tribute to a life in the theatre; Act One. The play is based on playwright Moss Hart's autobiography of the same title.

Lincoln Center Theater presents Act One, a play written and directed by James Lapine from the autobiography by Moss Hart. The production is scheduled to begin previews tomorrow night, March 20 and will open on Thursday, April 17 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street).
