La Jolla Playhouse announces its annual Gala will take place today, February 4, 2017 at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. Highlighting the event will be a one-night-only concert presentation of the Playhouse-born, Broadway-bound musical Come From Away.

Dress Circle Publishing will celebrate their new book THE UNTOLD STORIES OF BROADWAY, VOLUME 3 - the latest in a series by acclaimed historian and producer Jennifer Ashley Tepper - with a special event at The Drama Book Shop (250 West 4oth Street in Manhattan) today, December 1 at 5:30 PM.

Come From Away, a new musical about what happened when 38 planes landed in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, following the September 11 attacks, is set to begin a Broadway run this coming spring following a run in Toronto, which began last night. 

Come From Away is not a musical about the September 11th terrorist attacks - if anything it is the exact opposite. Come From Away is a musical about all that is good in people - compassion, care, love, acceptance, equality, and treating others with kindness. Truly, it is a musical written for now.

Ford's Theatre Society announced today that the new Irene Sankoff and David Hein musical 'Come From Away,' based on the heart-warming true story of how a small Canadian town cared for 6,579 airline passengers stranded in Newfoundland after 9/11, has extended due to popular demand.

Before heading to Broadway next spring, Come From Away runs through October 9 at the historic Ford's Theatre. Written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, the stunning production features direction from Tony®-nominated director Christopher Ashley.

Featuring a book, music, and lyrics by the married Canadian duo of Irene Sankoff and David Hein, Come From Away explores a subject area that's bound to bring up some painful memories for some. It's a September 11th musical, but not in the way you might expect. It's not about the towers, the Pentagon, or even really the loss of life. it is a story of a community bonding together to embrace passengers on the 38 planes that were diverted to Canada - specifically Newfoundland - when the U.S. Government closed American air space for the first time in U.S. history. It's one of those untold stories that is practically perfect for an original musical.
