Gonzo Moose Theatre Company have announced the UK Tour of The Thing That Came From Over There, running January 27th 2017 - April 8th 2017.

As arts organizations across Seattle throw their energy into selecting programming for the 2017/18 season, several are joining forces to mount a city-wide Shakespeare festival: Seattle Celebrates Shakespeare. With nearly two dozen festival participants, spring of 2018 promises to be an exciting and vibrant time in the Emerald City, showcasing a world class cultural landscape while celebrating one of history's greatest writers.

Watching the current production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead from Kentucky Shakespeare was like seeing it for the first time, it's that fresh and smart. Tom Stoppard's post-modern masterpiece is absurdist and existential; catnip for academics in search of thesis projects concerning mid-Twentieth Century theatre, and director Amy Attaway's production is all of that, but also a deeply satisfying entertainment. You'll laugh a lot while you're in the theatre, and be thinking about the play long after you have left.

Folger Theatre continues its celebrated 25th anniversary season with As You Like It, one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies. Directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, this classic tale filled with love, laughter, and mistaken identity features original songs composed by Heather Christian and dances by Alexandra Beller. As You Like It is on stage from January 24 through March 5, 2017.

It's been a crazy year, Dear Readers. Lots of ups, lots of downs, and LOTS of emotions. And I'm not just talking about on stage. But let's not dwell on the bad things that may have happened in the world and focus on some of the amazing things Seattle theater companies gave us this past year, and let me tell you there were quite a few. So many in fact that in some categories I simply had to call out more than the usual Honorable Mentions as some performances just needed to be noted. You'll see what I mean especially when you get to the female categories as the ladies were certainly bringing it this year. But let's get started shall we? Out of the myriad shows I saw this year in Seattle, here are the shows and performances that truly stood out to me.

Yale Repertory Theatre presents the world premiere of IMOGEN SAYS NOTHING by Aditi Brennan Kapil, directed by Laurie Woolery, at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street), January 20-February 11. Opening Night is Thursday, January 26.

Theatre by The Lake (TBTL) - Cumbria's only producing theatre - is delighted to announce its eagerly anticipated 2017 season, the first under the leadership of new Artistic Director, Conrad Lynch - marking the theatre's bold move to being a producer-led venue for the first time.

Hennepin Theatre Trust will launch Spirit: Made Here, sponsored by Andersen Windows, with a free, public celebration in the City Center atrium (615 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis) on Today, Dec. 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. This will be the seventh round of Made Here window displays in WeDo-the West Downtown Minneapolis Cultural District. 

Today's subject disproves the theory that you can't be good at everything. Kevin Laughon is the Production Associate at Theater J, but his long career of working in the theatre has taken him on both sides of the footlights.

Due to popular demand, Hennepin Theatre Trust today announced a second show for STEVE MARTIN AND MARTIN SHORT has been added for Thursday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. Multi-award winning comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short are set to reunite on stage in STEVE MARTIN AND MARTIN SHORT IN "AN EVENING YOU WILL FORGET FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIVES," FEATURING THE STEEP CANYON RANGERS AND JEFF BABKO at the historic Orpheum Theatre (910 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis) on Thursday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, May 19, 2017 at 8 p.m.

Seattle Repertory Theatre presents the 2015 Oliver Award-winning Best New Play, King Charles III, Mike Bartlett's runaway smash hit, a contemporary and provocative comedy drama about Prince Charles' ascension to the throne upon the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth. It is a powerful piece about press intrusion, backroom politics, and the timeless magnetism of power.

This fall, Theatre In the Raw is bringing to Vancouver stages the Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill 1928 classic musical work,THE THREEPENNY OPERA,re imagined as a mixture of Victorian era setting with a Commercial Drive flavouring, under the direction of Jay Hamburger and Music Director Earle Peach!

Either I'm getting soft in my old age or everyone has decided to bring out their big guns (theatrically) at the end of the year as this is the third show in two weeks that has absolutely floored me. New Century Theatre Company's 'The Big Meal' takes what can be a simple romantic comedy/family drama and turns it into a sumptuous journey served up by some of the most gifted actors in town. And on a personal note, they managed to turn me into a weeping snot monster which hasn't been done at this level since another NCTC show, 'Mary's Wedding'.
