Exhibition Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen Now at The New York Public Library

Katharine Hepburn was an icon of theater, film and fashion, where her style was both distinct and influential. Her unique fashion sense is the subject of a new exhibition at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen. The exhibition includes over 40 costumes and clothing items from Hepburn's personal collection. The exhibition - organized by Kent State University Museum and travelling the US - was created in conjunction with a new book released this month, Rebel Chic (published by Skira Rizzoli, 2012). Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen will be on display in the Donald and Mary Oenslager Gallery from October 18, 2012 thru January 12, 2013 at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center at 40 Lincoln Center Plaza. Admission is free.

Rick Hilsabeck and Sarah Pfisterer Star in MY FAIR LADY at Reagle Music Theatre, 8/10-19

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston has announced the cast of My Fair Lady, the beloved Lerner and Loewe classic about an arrogant and crotchety phonetics professor who transforms a spirited Cockney flower girl into an elegant, proper-speaking English lady. Broadway's Rick Hilsabeck (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Billy Elliot, the first national tour of Phantom of the Opera) stars as the curmudgeonly professor Henry Higgins. His real-life co-star Sarah Pfisterer (Phantom of the Opera, Show Boat, Children and Art) is his reluctant protege Eliza Doolittle. Performances are August 10-19 in the Robinson Theatre, 617 Lexington Street, Waltham.

STAR QUALITY: THE WORLD OF NOËL COWARD Exhibition Announces Events Leading to Aug 18 Closing

The smash-hit exhibition Star Quality: The World of Noël Coward will close on August 18 after a five-month, twice-extended run. The show focuses on Coward as playwright, composer, director, stage, screen, cabaret performer, and international celebrity, and represents the most comprehensive exhibition on Noël Coward ever assembled, including unique material from the collections of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Since it opened on March 11, 2012, the Exhibition has attracted over 17,000 visitors.

Reagle Music Theatre's Season Will Include BYE BYE BIRDIE, A CHORUS LINE and More

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston announces a trio of Tony Award-winning musicals for its 44th consecutive summer season. A Chorus Line, the ground-breaking 1970s musical about unsung Broadway dancers putting everything on the line at an audition to be in a show, opens the season June 15-24. Bye Bye Birdie, the jubilant 1960s rock 'n' roll inspired parody of what happens to a small Midwestern community when an Elvis-like musical star swings through town looking for one last kiss before entering the Army, runs July 13-22. My Fair Lady, the timeless 1950s Lerner and Loewe classic about an arrogant professor's transformation of a Cockney flower girl into an elegant, proper-speaking lady, takes the stage August 10-19. Casts and creative teams will be announced at a future date.

2012 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awardees Announced

Two-time Tony Award nominated costume designer Carrie Robbins, and scenic, lighting, costume designer and educator Lloyd Burlingame are among the 2012 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 4, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Ms. Robbins was selected to receive the 2012 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Mr. Burlingame will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.

Silver Screen/Silver Prints on View at Grolier Club Now Through 11/12

From September 14 through November 12, 2011, The Grolier Club presents a public exhibition of vintage Hollywood photography tracing the careers of the leading photographers and many of the great stars of the 'Golden Age' of motion pictures. Silver Screen/Silver Prints is drawn from the collection of Grolier Club member Robert Dance and curated by Anne H. Hoy.
