Jonathan Cake Joins NY Theatre Workshop Production of RESTORATION, Begins 4/30

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Jonathan Cake has joined the cast of Restoration, written by Claudia Shear, and directed by Christopher Ashley. Mr. Cake assumes the role to have been played by Danny Mastrogiorgio.

Elizabeth Marvel Leads MTC's THAT FACE; Premieres 4/29

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have announced the Manhattan Theatre Club production of Polly Stenham's THAT FACE will be directed by Sarah Benson (Blasted, Artistic Director of Soho Rep) and will feature three-time Obie winner Elizabeth Marvel (Top Girls, 50 Words). THAT FACE will begin previews on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I for a Tuesday, May 18, 2010 opening night.

Averett, Noonan, Pearce & More Set for Epic Theatre's THE PASSION PLAY, 4/27-5/30

New York's OBIE Award-winning Epic Theatre Ensemble (Zak Berkman, Melissa Friedman, Ron Russell, Founding Executive Directors) today announced the cast and creative team for the New York premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Passion Play (In The Next Room… or the vibrator play) and directed by Mark Wing-Davey (The Singing Forest). The cast will include Brendan Averett, Polly Noonan, Daniel Pearce, Alex Podulke, Keith Reddin, Godfrey L. Simmons Jr., T. Ryder Smith, Felix Solis Jr., Kate Turnbull and Nicole Wiesner.

Next Theatre Announces 2010/2011 Season

Next Theatre Company and Artistic Director Jason Southerland are thrilled to announce the 30th anniversary season, a year dedicated to plays that explore the myths that men and women create about their lives. The season opens in the fall with a world premiere presented at the National New Play Network's annual showcase. It continues with the regional premiere of a play Southerland first read when he met with Israeli playwright Motti Lerner (Pangs of the Messiah) in Tel Aviv earlier this year. The season comes to its climactic end with a pair of plays by Phyllis Nagy (pronounced 'Naij') who has captured wide acclaim in the United Kingdom but has been rarely produced in the U.S.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater will conclude its 15th Anniversary season with the world premiere of The Aliens, by Annie Baker (Circle Mirror Transformation, Body Awareness). Nicola and Managing Director William Russo, have announced that the theatre's 2010-2011subscriber season will include: Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes, starring Elizabeth Marvel and directed by Ivo Van Hove; Peter and the Starcatchers, a new play by Rick Elice, directed by Roger Rees and?Alex Timbers, based upon the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson; Three Pianos, written, arranged, and performed by Rick Burkhardt, Alec Duffy, and Dave Malloy, and directed by Rachel Chavkin; and a fourth production to be announced in the coming weeks.

A.C.T.'s RIOT Plays Zeum Theater, 4/1-4/17

The A.C.T. Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Program and Young Conservatory present the world premiere production of Riot, celebrated Irish playwright Ursula Rani Sarma's hard-hitting play, in the newest commission from A.C.T.'s international partnership with Britain's Theatre Royal Bath. Directed by Young Conservatory Director Craig Slaight and featuring young actors from the A.C.T. M.F.A. Program and Young Conservatory, Riot follows the story of a young man who lands in a residency clinic for emotionally disturbed teens following an unexpected act of violence. Riot weaves Max's relationships with his fellow patients, his doctor, and his nurses into a moving portrait of the deep human need for connection. The show plays April 1-17, 2010, at Zeum Theater, located at Yerba Buena Gardens (Fourth and Howard streets). Tickets are $15.50-$20.50 and are available by calling A.C.T. Women's Project Seeks 50 Strong Volunteers To Get Their Rocks Off 4/16
