SDCF Announces Kamilah Forbes as 2020 Zelda Fichandler Award Recipient

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation has announced the recipient and three finalists for the annual Zelda Fichandler Award. The Fichandler Award recognizes directors and choreographers who have demonstrated great accomplishment to-date with singular creativity and deep investment in a particular community or region.

Northern Stage Suspends FROZEN JR. and MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET

In light of ongoing developments resulting from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and out of concern for the health and safety of its audiences, artists, and staff, Northern Stage will suspend all public programming from March 14 through May 3. The company hopes to be able to present currently programmed productions of Frozen JR. and Million Dollar Quartet once public safety advisories have determined it is safe to do so. 

Northern Stage Launches Into the New Year and Decade With NEW WORKS NOW 7.0

Now in its seventh year, Northern Stage's New Works Now festival will feature three new plays, January 10 and 11 at the Barrette Center for the Arts. The Northern Stage Artistic team, including Producing Artistic Director Carol Dunne and BOLD Associate Artistic Director & New Works Now Producer Jess Chayes, reached out to writers and artists in the Northern Stage community and read dozens of unproduced plays, selecting three to be workshopped with professional actors and directors for one week, culminating in a public festival of free staged readings.

Northern Stage Announces 2019-20 Season: THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and More!

Northern Stage announces its 2019-20 Season, a season of plays that thematically reflect on the past to move into a more positive future. The company's 23rd Season will feature two world premieres by women writers, non-traditional casting in classic plays, and an overall season more diverse and reflective of the world. "Northern Stage continues to evolve from a local theater with a regional impact to a regional theater with a national impact," says Northern Stage Producing Artistic Director and Director of the BOLD Theater Women's Leadership Circle Carol Dunne. "New Works Now and the BOLD Circle enable us to nurture work by emerging artists and women writers. The diverse voices on stage this season elevate our work and challenge us to change lives by including the stories of humanity that are often overlooked and rarely told."

TRICK OR TREAT, Starring Gordon Clapp, Makes NYC Premiere At 59E59 Theaters

59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled to welcome the NYC premiere of TRICK OR TREAT, written by Jack Neary and directed by Carol Dunne. Northern Stage's Managing Director Eric Bunge To Step Down

Eric Bunge, Northern Stage's Managing Director since 2013, will step away from his position effective October 31 of this year. Alfred Blum, Chair of the Board of Directors, said that Bunge informed the Board of his decision at the Board's annual planning retreat. "Eric has been a motivating leader in the remarkable growth and success Northern Stage has experienced in the past five years," says Blum. "He will continue at Northern Stage in an important role, leading special projects that the Board of Directors and leadership staff identify as essential to fulfilling the company's strategic plans."
