As the sixth annual New Works Now new play festival commences, Northern Stage is thrilled to announce its third Off-Broadway production, Only Yesterday by Hollywood writer Bob Stevens, and bring another world premiere to the main stage, Venus Rising by local playwright Marisa Smith.

59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled to welcome the NYC premiere of TRICK OR TREAT, written by Jack Neary and directed by Carol Dunne. Produced by Northern Stage, TRICK OR TREAT begins performances on Saturday, January 12 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 24. Press Opening is Sunday, January 20 at 7 PM. Eric Bunge, Northern Stage's Managing Director since 2013, will step away from his position effective October 31 of this year. Alfred Blum, Chair of the Board of Directors, said that Bunge informed the Board of his decision at the Board's annual planning retreat. "Eric has been a motivating leader in the remarkable growth and success Northern Stage has experienced in the past five years," says Blum. "He will continue at Northern Stage in an important role, leading special projects that the Board of Directors and leadership staff identify as essential to fulfilling the company's strategic plans."

Northern Stage has seen tremendous growth in its Education Department over the past three years. With programs that include the expanded BridgeUP: Theater in the Schools, the newly created Boot Camp, which offers professional training and mentorship for students who want to pursue a career in the arts, the Dartmouth Experiential Learning Term, a fully and professionally produced Summer Musical Theater Intensive, season-long Youth Ensemble Studio groups for elementary, middle, and high school students, and adult learning opportunities that have tripled in participation, the company is expanding its footprint to meet the demand for space. Northern Stage has purchased the property at 93 S. Main Street in White River Junction, VT, formerly operated by Don and Wanda Nalette as Twin State Typewriter, which includes office and storage space on the main floor and five residential apartments on the second floor.

Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach will be performed by Northern Stage Summer Musical Theater Intensive students at the Barrette Center for the Arts in White River Junction, VT, July 25-29.

Northern Stage announces the successful launch of Boot Camp, a program designed to nurture young theater artists by providing in-depth training and mentorship for high school juniors, seniors, and recent graduates who want to pursue a career in the arts. With support from the Pussycat Foundation and created to honor the philanthropic and creative spirits of Helen Gurley Brown and David Brown, Boot Camp serves young artists who lack the resources to pursue professional-level arts training. Admission to colleges, BFA theater programs, and performing arts conservatories are highly competitive, and Boot Camp seeks to level the playing field by preparing students to compete at the highest level for continued arts and performance studies.

In 2016, Northern Stage launched Shakespeare in the Schools, an intensive month-long residency that brought professional artists into area schools to teach students the power of acting and performing the words of William Shakespeare.

The Ensemble Theatre kicks off its search for the artistic associate who will work with Artistic Director Eileen J. Morris through the BOLD Theatre Women's Leadership grant.

The BOLD Theater Women's Leadership Circle, led by Carol Dunne, Producing Artistic Director of Northern Stage, will provide $1.25 million of support for Northern Stage and four other theaters run by female artistic directors during the 2018-2019 season. Each theater will receive a $250,000 grant.
