Artists Series Concerts of Sarasota launches its 2019 Venice series season with "Forbidden Broadway," the long-running Off-Broadway musical revue where legends past and present meet with nimble satire in a hilarious roast of some of the theatre's greatest stars and songwriters, Sunday, January 27, 3:00 p.m., at the Venice Performing Arts Center, 1 Indian Way, Venice. The four-person parody, featuring a cast rich in Broadway and Off-Broadway experience, skewers such iconic shows as "Chicago," "Annie," "Les Miz," "The Lion King," and "Hamilton," and such celebrated performers as Liza Minelli, Carol Channing, Robert Goulet, and many more. 

Andrea Wolff's 'I Can't Trace Time' Moves To Laurie Beechman

Andrea Wolff's I Can't Trace Time, a passionate and whimsical musical memoir, will play one more show in December, moving to the Laurie Beechman Theatre on 12/10 at 6pm. With a signature mixture of pop and Broadway and an ensemble led by Music Director Jude Obermuller, I Can't Trace Time features a master entertainer who has been widely lauded for her strong comic timing, offbeat and compelling characterizations and superb taste in music. Special Guest Artist, guitarist Sean Harkness will appear. The show is directed by 2018 MAC and Bistro Award winning writer-actor, Dan Ruth. Michael West Will Make Green Room 42 Debut

Michael West (When Pigs Fly, Forbidden Broadway, NEWSical) is set to take the Green Room 42 stage this month as he stars as Ken Boisinger in "Ken Boisinger - Tonight I'm Gonna Sing For You". Carol Channing Award presented in Little Rock; The Little Rock theatre community came together at the Argenta Community Theatre in North Little Rock for its annual Dark Night. Dark Night is an evening to celebrate and honor live theatre in Central Arkansas. The Nellie Award is named after Nellie Forbush from Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific and is given to a group or individuals for its involvement with and support of live theatre in Central Arkansas.
