New York City Center will reopen following a historic renovation and modernization with a star-studded gala on October 25. The event will kick off a celebratory season of new and expanded programming, festivals, exhibits, a special commission, and performances by world-class dance and theater companies. The renovation, designed by Ennead Architects, LLP (formerly Polshek Partnership), has transformed the landmark building into a contemporary cultural center complete with modern amenities and enhanced historic details, from the mezzanine lobby's painted ceiling and murals to the auditorium's arabesque dome. City Center is located on 55th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.

The legendary choreographer/dancer/theatre director Donald Saddler will receive the Duke Ellington Center for the Arts' 1st Annual Duke Ellington 'Beyond Category' Award at a special tribute performance on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 8 PM in Merkin Concert Hall in the Elaine Kaufman Center, 129 West 67th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue. The New Jersey Performing Arts Center raises the curtain on an exciting, expanded 2010-11 season on September 22, 2010 when classical piano superstar Lang Lang returns to NJPAC's Prudential Hall stage, which has been dubbed one of his favorite places in the world to play, as a soloist on two works, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in c, Op. 37, and Liszt's virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major, with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, led by Jacques Lacombe in his second performance as the NJSO's new Music Director.
EVENING PRIMROSE, the 1966 made-for-television Stephen Sondheim musical about a secret society of people living in department stores, will make its first appearance onstage on October 25, in a performance benefitting the St. George's Anglo-American Cultural Awards. The star-studded cast will include Candice Bergen, John McMartin, Sean Palmer, Bill Duell, John Windsor Cunningham, Carmen de Lavallade, Frederic Franklin, and Sondra Lee. The rest of the cast has yet to be announced.
