Edie Brickell and Carmen Cusak have been added to the roster of performers for The Lilly Awards Broadway Cabaret, an evening of musical showstoppers written by women and performed by Broadway's best to benefit The Lilly Awards Foundation (Marsha Norman, President) whose mission is to promote gender parity at all levels of theatrical production, and develop and celebrate the work of women in the theater.
Over 300 guests attended The Old Globe's 2015 Gala, "Club 3515," celebrating the Globe's 80th Anniversary, on July 25 on the Globe's historic campus in Balboa Park. New York Stage and Film and Vassar College, this summer celebrating the 31st Powerhouse Season, have announced the first round of casting for their summer collaboration, which runs June 26 - August 2 at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie.
Producer Joey Parnes announced today that the new musical Bright Star, from Grammy and Emmy winner Steve Martin and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Edie Brickell, will play a limited engagement at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater in Washington, D.C. ahead of an anticipated spring 2016 opening on Broadway. Directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie, Bright Star will begin performances on December 2, 2015, with an official opening night of December 17, and play through January 10, 2016.
