San Diego Musical Theatre is thrilled to announce the cast for its third and final production of its 2010-2011 season, the singular sensation, the nine-time Tony Award-winning musical, A CHORUS LINE with music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban, book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, musical direction by Don LeMaster and directed and choreographed by Robert Marra (recreating Michael Bennett's original choreography).
As its first production in their new home at the historic Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton, 3D Theatricals opens with THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, that wonderful, effervescent 2006 Broadway musical concoction. A Tony Winner for Best Book and Best Score, this insanely funny musical comedy is a reverent, if wildly sarcastic homage to the American Jazz-Age musical, those frothy, lighthearted screwball comedies that captivated so many fans with its fun and frivolity. 3D Theatricals' production features TV star Sally Struthers as Mrs. Tottendale.
Now in its new home at the Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton, first up for 3D Theatricals is a production of the hit musical THE DROWSY CHAPERONE--with shows running February 11 through the 27th--featuring TV legend Sally Struthers (All In The Family, Gilmore Girls) in the role of Mrs. Tottendale. Fresh off her win as Best Featured Actress in a Musical at the 2011 LA Stage Ovation Awards (for her role as the Fairy Godmother in 'Cinderella'), Struthers will also star in 3D Theatricals' upcoming 'Always, Patsy Cline' later this season.
Theatre Out, Orange County's gay and lesbian theatre, presents the Orange County Premiere of THE BUSY WORLD IS HUSHED by Keith Bunin. An engaging drama that mixes faith with matters of the heart, performances will take place at the Empire Theatre in Santa Ana from January 14 through February 5.
Originally produced off-Broadway in 2006, Keith Bunin's complex THE BUSY WORLD IS HUSHED is now enjoying an excellent regional revival courtesy of Theatre Out, Orange County's Gay and Lesbian Theatre company, with performances playing through February 5 at the Empire Theatre in Santa Ana. Theatre Out's intimate setting, coupled with a trio of great performances from its cast, serve this intelligent, engaging drama quite well.
