Lily Tomlin - an entertainment maverick whose talents put her at the pinnacle of comedy, acting, writing and producing - has been named the 53rd recipient of SAG-AFTRA's highest tribute: the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment.

Fresh off her 2016 MAC Award for best original song after a successful revival of Portraits (1993) for Stephen Hanks' New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits series, Meg Flather paid tribute in Carly & Me to the 'artist who gave [her] her voice.' With her longtime musical director Paul Greenwood on piano and the versatile John Mettam on guitar and drums both singing backup, Flather performed hits and lesser-known songs alike from Carly Simon's oeuvre, along with a handful of original songs influenced by her musical heroine.

Producers Bob Israel and Larry Hirschhorn announced today that Garry Marshall's iconic movie THE FLAMINGO KID is being developed as a musical, with sights set on a Spring, 2018 Broadway opening. 

Kokandy Productions is pleased to celebrate its fifth anniversary with an expanded season featuring four fully produced musicals, including two Chicago premieres and two guest directors. The 2017/18 Season will also include numerous readings and workshops - adding fresh voices to Kokandy's "New Works Initiative" and emphasizing the company's commitment to becoming an increasingly relevant part of Chicagoland's musical theater and new work development communities. The new season also marks Kokandy's transition to a not-for-profit organization.

To life! The Broadway revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF just opened Sunday night, December 20 at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway), wrapping up the 2015 Broadway season. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, and choreographed by Hofesh Shechter. BroadwayWorld has learned that author and screenwriter Jackie Collins died this weekend in LA after a battle with breast cancer. She was 77.

Sad news this evening. BroadwayWorld has just learned that Marc Raboy, well known photographer of Broadway legends and more, has passed away.

Tina Brown, Diane von Furstenberg and Pamela Thomas-Graham celebrated Broadway director Stephen Daldry at Barbetta Restaurant (321 West 46th Street) today, May 28th. Daldry has just been nominated for a Tony Award for Best Direction in a Play for SKYLIGHT, starring Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan. The Women's Division of Albert Einstein College of Medicine hosted its 61st Annual Spirit of Achievement Luncheon on Tuesday, May 19th at the Rainbow Room, honoring Candice Bergen, Renee Fleming and Einstein faculty members Daphne T. Hsu, M.D., and Robert H. Pass, M.D. Both are leading pediatric heart specialists at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore, the pediatric division of Einstein's University hospital.
