New Georges will kick off its 30th Anniversary season with a one-night-only special presentation of bb brecht’s Holiday Yuletide Spectacular, created by Miranda Haymon. While midtown has a celebratory vibe and cheers of 'Broadway's Back!' ring with each new opening and re-opening, it is nice to go downtown, to a smaller, less gilded theater, and see a piece of art that is a bit grungier, less commercial, more experimental and edgy. NYTW's Sanctuary City perfectly scratches my Off-Broadway itch.

Pre-Covid, to quote an old groaner, people were dying to get into Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery for the Angel’s Share concert series spearheaded by Andrew Ousley, producer of “Death of Classical.” The latest concert, on June 25, starred violinist Gil Shaham and The Knights ensemble in a sparkling 'pocket edition' of Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D.
